WAHS junior Lydia Smith has claimed a world championship title. Smith competed in the 2019 Pontevedra ITU Aquathlon World Championships, winning the competition over other female athletes in the 16-19 age group in Pontevedra, Spain, on May 2.

A group WAHS students ranked among the top three at the 33rd annual Envirothon held recently at the Consolidated Sportsmen of Lycoming County along Route 87. Of the 21 contending teams, the WAHS group took second place for Lycoming County and third place overall.

Author and youth advocate Rodney Walker returned to WAHS to work with about 70 students who have been through adverse experiences. He led students through a workshop called "Wounds You Cannot See," offering them strategies on how to work toward healing and positive growth.

WAHS sophomore Cecilia Fink recently donated $10,500 to support two local causes: the Livestrong program at the YMCA and 6-year-old Declan Bower, who is battling leukemia. This is Fink’s fifth year supporting local programs and individuals in need through her charity, Be You Boldly.
