Office of the Assistant Superintendent
The Office of the Assistant Superintendent, led by Dr. Richard Poole, oversees the departments that lead and positively impact the daily Teaching and Learning of the Williamsport Area School District. Supportive departments and lead administrators include:
- Elementary Supervisor of Curriculum (K-6)
- Secondary Supervisor of Curriculum (7-12) and Unified Arts (K-12)
- Director of Special Education
- Director of Federal Programs
- Director of Career and Technical Education
- Director of Educational Data Analysis
Dr. Poole works collaboratively to ensure that all students at WASD engage in a rigorous, research-based educational program that prepare them for the 21st century, and that the district curriculum is strategically aligned with the Pennsylvania Core and Academic Standards and National Standards. Assessment is integral to the teaching and learning process, and our educators use a range of assessment measures to monitor both student learning and refine instruction to meet student needs and promote their achievement. The Office of the Assistant Superintendent also plans a rich professional development program to keep the district faculty and staff current in best educational practice. In addition to the professional development for our district faculty and staff, the office plans and administers an induction and mentoring program for teachers new to WASD, as well as those new to the profession.
