In recognition of our Board of Education, students from across the district honored them for their service by presenting them with a brand-new book for installation in their respective school libraries. Each of the books is dedicated to the individual board member with a nameplate on the inside cover.

Five eighth-grade students at WAMS recently were recognized for earning regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Three earned the coveted Gold Key Award and two earned Honorable Mentions.

WAMS released the year's second marking period honor roll listing. Two-hundred and thirty-three students from grades nine through 12 are named as having earned their status on the distinguished high honor roll, high honor roll or honor roll roster.
Image for WAMS Students Raise, Donate Funds to WBP's K-9 Unit
WAMS students donated $870 to the Williamsport Bureau of Police's K-9 Unit Friday morning. Members of the school's Positivity Club and Builders Club raised the funds by collecting donated dog and cat treats to package and sell.

The WASD music department will present its 45th annual All-District Orchestra concert on Monday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at WAHS. The program will feature the talents of more than 450 students in grades four through 12.

The WAMS music department held its production of “Elf the Musical Jr.” this weekend. The play, starring Spencer Sponhouse as Buddy the Elf, Muireann Tran as Jovie, and Jack Heller as Walter Hobbs, is based on the 2003 holiday film.

The WASD Education Foundation will host its 14th annual Golf Tournament on Monday, June 24, at the Williamsport Country Club. Registration begins 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The tournament, presented by returning platinum sponsor Aramark, will benefit the Athletic Program Endowment Fund at WASDEF.

Mr. Brandon Coleman was recently named Supervisor of Pupil Transportation and School Safety at WASD. Coleman, who begins April 1, comes to WASD from Keystone Central School District, where he’s held the position of the district’s supervisor of police and transportation since 2009.

Thanks to the generosity of River Valley Regional YMCA and its Executive Director Sonja Davy, some students in need will receive gifts this holiday season. Through its Angel Tree, the YMCA asked its members to purchase coats, backpacks, pants, socks, scarves and hats for students of all ages in the district.

In partnership with UPMC Susquehanna, WASD continues to train all district employees this year in the national Stop the Bleed initiative. Today, 16 Stop the Bleed kits, each containing eight individual kits, were delivered to the district for installation at each of its school buildings for public accessibility.

Williamsport Area Middle School takes students from the 4th-6th grade intermediate years to the next step in their academic and social transformation. Advanced course options and introduction to Career and Technical Education will get children thinking about their futures. Furthermore, introduction to competitive sports, enhanced music education and performance arts will help your child become well-rounded, blossom, and flourish.

The Williamsport Area Middle School implements school wide positive behavior (SWPB) which  recognizes and reinforces the school district’s behavioral expectations for all students. Student expectations are the 4 Bs:
