Williamsport Area Middle School students experience clubs and other organizations through school, with opportunities to participate in competitive school athletics or school chorus, to learn to play an instrument and join an orchestra, and to perform in school productions such as musicals.

Music
Williamsport Area School District has a strong foundation in music and has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education for the past 16 years. Students playing various instruments participate in orchestra. Each grade has its own separate orchestra in addition to a combined 7th and 8th grade chamber orchestra.
Students also have the opportunity to enjoy choral performance through vocal instruction. Various musical concerts occur throughout the year to celebrate the talents of these young musicians.
Art
Our art curriculum continues to build on the fundamentals taught at the primary and intermediate levels. Seventh and eighth grade students will learn about:

- Art Critism
- Aesthetics
- Production
A Club for Everyone
Clubs at Williamsport Area Middle School are designed to provide a variety of opportunities for students to explore different activities that may be of interest to them, helping build relationships and create well-rounded citizens in our school and community.
Clubs take place every Friday during Millionaire Block from mid-September through the end of the school year. Clubs are a privilege, not a right, and failure to uphold expectations for academics, behavior, and attendance can exclude students from being able to participate in clubs.
Each club has an advisor who will guide students throughout the year, providing structure and instruction, if necessary.
Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Kids apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.
Williamsport Area School District has a very proud tradition of all our schools participating at various levels of competition, with our students going as far as Odyssey of the Mind World Finals for several years.
