WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (JAN. 14, 2026) — Williamsport Area High School students heard from Chris Herren, a former professional basketball player and recovery advocate, during a school assembly focused on healthy choices, resilience and seeking help when needed.

Prior to the presentation, Herren was gracious enough to sit down with the WAHS TV Productions crew for an interview led by junior Emily Fullup. Fullup, who won the broadcast writing competition at Bloomsburg in the fall, will advance to the state finals in March.

During the assembly, Herren shared his personal story and encouraged students to think critically about decision-making, peer pressure and the importance of supporting one another. The presentation reinforced the district’s commitment to student wellness and ongoing prevention education.
