Scholarships

Scholarships are made available to students as they are received. We will also make announcements about other local scholarships and awards as they become available.  It is important for seniors to make an appointment in guidance and pay close attention to the morning announcements to be aware of opportunities.

Scholarships are listed and due dates are updated as they come available. Most awards indicate a website. If no website is listed, applications will be available in the Counseling office as they come in. Pennsylvania Society Scholarship Program The Maguire Foundation has partnered with The Pennsylvania Society to create a scholarship to assist Pennsylvania high school seniors who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited, non-proprietary four-year college or university which must be located within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship - Deadline: Nov. 13 - Available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities. AXA Achievement Scholarship - Deadline: Dec. 15 - Open to high school seniors who demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities. Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference 2019-20 Scholarship- Deadline JanuaryTo an athlete who has earned at least one varsity letter in a PIAA recognized sport. Must be a senior with at least a 3.0 GPA (83-86 NGA). Must have a verified post secondary education entrance placement score  SAT, ACT, or other. Applications are currently available in the Guidance office. Completed applications should be submitted to Sean McCann, WAHS Athletic director.

Lucy A. Valero Memorial Scholarship - Deadline January 31st, 2020. To an outstanding senior who plans to enroll in an accredited teacher preparation program in the Commonwealth of PA. Applications are in the Guidance office and are available on the PSEA website http://psea.org/valero

PAMS Annual Julie Sullivan Memorial Scholarship To a college-bound graduating senior who has used HME Medical Equipment in the past. Applications in the Guidance office. 

Lehigh Valley Section of the Society of Women Engineers Applicants must be enrolling as a first year student in an ABET accredited engineering program in 2020. Applicants must identify afemale and be graduating from High School in 2020. http://lv.swe.org/application.html

7th Annual WACE National Co-Op Scholarship -Scholarships available to high school seniors who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of the Partner institutions (includes Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, and more). PACB Foundation Scholarship Frank A. Pinto Scholarship for Excellence - Applicant must be a dependent child of a parent working at least 1000 hours per year (for at least two years) for a regular member of the PACB Association of Community Bankers. Applications are available in the guidance office or applications can be printed off PACB's website http://www.pacb.org.

The Lycoming Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution - Deadline: Feb. 15, 2020 - 3 scholarships available for high school seniors who are attending an accredited college/university regardless of area of study, a senior attending an accredited Nursing program, and for a senior attending an accredited college/university to study American History. Application are available in the Guidance Office.

Hugh Carcella United Steelworkers - District 10 - Deadline March 15, 2020 Applications in the Counseling office. To a son/daughter of a member of the United Steelworkers District 10, in good standing with the local union or to a son/daughter of a disabled or old age or retiree and affiliated with the local union and who was in good standing with the United Steelworkers at the time of their retirement or death.

The Carl E. Stotz Little League Baseball Scholarship - Deadline to be at Little League Headquarters in March. A graduating senior from a Lycoming County High School who is in good standing and academically in the top twenty-five percent of his or her class as determined by class rank. A good citizen who exemplifies effort, determination, and persistence in attempting to reach a goal. Applications available in the Guidance office.

The Kay Ertel Scholarship Application - Deadline March. The applicant must be a female high school senior, in a public school in Lycoming County, who is interested in public service and is pursuing an undergraduate degree. Applications must be completed and all required information sent to Janice Shireman in Jersey Shore, PA. Applications will be available in the Guidance office.

Williamsport Music Club/Budd Memorial Scholarship - $1500 scholarship available to a Lycoming County high school senior who is planning to continue an education in music. Applications will be available in the Guidance Office.  

Epilepsy Association of Western and Central PA Scholarship Program for students who have epilepsy/seizure disorder - Te EAWCP will award nine scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have a epilepsy/seizure disorder and are going on to a post-secondary school. Applications will be available in the Guidance office.

Edward W. Claudius Memorial Scholarship - To a graduating senior from a Lycoming County high school who will be attending PSU - any campus- not Penn College - for a four-year degree program. Applicants must submit an application and essay to the Guidance office by March. Applications will be available in the Guidance office. 

Lycoming County Chapter of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees Scholarship - Deadline to be turned into the Guidance office by March The senior applicant must be enrolled or intends to be enrolled as a full-time student majoring in education in a 4-year accredited college/university. The applicant must not be receiving a full scholarship from any other source. Applications are available in the Guidance office.

Gladys Tozier Memorial Scholarship Award - To a Lycoming County senior who has been accepted to a four year degree college. Applications available in the Guidance office. 

John Sharp Memorial Scholarship Horizon Federal Credit Union Scholarship -  Must be an active account holder in good standing of the Horizon Federal Credit Union. Be a 2020 graduate with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and be accepted as a full-time student at a college or university. Essay required. National Federation of the Blind offers two scholarships of $1,000 each to any legally blind person who will be a full-time student during the 2020-21 school year. These scholarships are merit based, therefore recipients receive the money directly. In order to apply, go to http://nfb.org/

Kid's Chance  Must have a parent who has been killed or seriously injured as a result of a work related accident that meets the criteria of the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act and that has resulted in demonstrated financial need. http://www.kidschanceofpa.org/

Williamsport First Community Foundation Partnership (several awards) Information will be updated for the 2019-20 school year as it becomes available. 

The Fairfield Auto Group/Lycoming County Republican Committee To any 2020 graduating senior residing in Lycoming County, who in the fall of 2020 will be attending a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college or university or vocational-technical school. The winners will be selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee based on an interview, essay, and letter of recommendation. Deadline April 15th. http://www.lycominggop.org/

PALCO Federal Credit Union Members Helping Members  Two scholarships of $1,000 each to two applicants that exemplify the credit union philosophy through their academic achievements, volunteerism, community service and leadership. Deadline April 24.

Dean Stroop Memorial Scholarship Award - Available to any graduating senior in Lycoming County actively involved in dance, music, and/or theatre. The scholarship amount is 1,500. The winner receives $1,000 and two runners up receive $250.00. Return to Alison Stroup 304 Shady Road Montoursville, PA 17754. Loyalsock Creek Mens Club Scholarship - LCMC Scholarships provide financial assistance to high school seniors who are enrolled in a public or accredited private school in Lycoming County, PA Has attained a 2.0 cumulative GPA based on a 4.o scale from grades 9, 10, 11 and are planning to continue their education beyond high school in an accredited institution of higher education or a technical school. Applications are currently available in the Guidance office. Essay required.

The Abram L. Howard Scholarship - Applicants will exemplify strong leadership skills in the home, school, and community. An essay is required. Applications are available in the Guidance office. 

The P.D. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship - Seniors must demonstrate leadership potential and academic promise in their pursuit of higher education Essay required. Applications are ow available in the Guidance office. 

Road to Safety Scholarship Contest- Open to graduating, college-bound seniors. Seniors enter the contest by submitting a creative project that highlights the danger of driving or drunk driving. Applications in the Guidance office.

WAHS Common Scholarship

The WAHS Common Scholarship Application includes a list of local scholarships administered by the Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation through the WAHS guidance office. Please read each scholarship and check the ones that you wish to be considered for (and that you meet the specific qualifications).   Students are also encouraged to apply via the WAHS Common Application for the WAHS LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS.  These are scholarships only available to WAHS seniors and are of amounts greater than $500.  Applications and scholarship criteria are available in the Guidance Office in February of each year. Applications will be made available through our website and Facebook, as well. Recipients are announced at graduation ceremonies. The link to this application will be provided in February.

  • You must meet the qualifications of the scholarships that you check off.
  • Check that all supportive forms are included with each application.
  • Specific dates and the 2020 application will be available in February.
