The Zendo is a dedicated space within our high school designed for quiet reflection, mindfulness, and creativity. Unlike traditional classrooms, the Zendo is intentionally minimal, featuring soft, dim lighting and floor mats rather than desks and chairs. This calming environment encourages students to slow down, breathe, and engage in thoughtful reflection away from the distractions of their busy schedules.
This unique room is a central location for our Mindful Art class, offering students an atmosphere that nurtures both creativity and focus. Art students frequently use the Zendo as a place to explore ideas, practice mindfulness, and connect their artistic expression with personal well-being. Its peaceful setting allows students to bring a deeper sense of awareness into their creative process.
The Zendo is also a valuable resource for our Health classrooms, providing a supportive space for lessons that focus on stress management, self-care, and overall wellness. Whether through guided mindfulness practices, reflection activities, or quiet group discussions, the Zendo helps students develop lifelong skills for maintaining balance and emotional health.
With its tranquil atmosphere and multi-purpose design, the Zendo has become a popular and beloved space for students and teachers alike. It represents our school’s commitment to fostering not only academic growth, but also personal development, resilience, and well-being.
