Cochran Primary OM Team Advances to 2022 World Finals

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (APRIL 4, 2022) — One Williamsport Area School District Odyssey of the Mind team will head to the 2022 World Finals next month after securing a first-place win at the state round Saturday at Lock Haven University.

Four contending teams from WASD competed at the state event, represented by Cochran Primary and Curtin Intermediate schools.

Cochran Primary advances to the World Finals on a division one, first-place finish for the problem “Life is a Circus!” The team, coached by Amy Harpster and Kelly Campbell, includes: McKay CampbellAlexander FrankQuinn HamiltonHaddie HarpsterAddyson Harrison and Nate McClelland.

While not advancing, the following is a listing of how the three other WASD teams ranked in their respective problems:

  • Curtin Intermediate: Fifth Place, Division II, “Life is a Circus!”, coached by April Frank, Melanie Vail and Adam Harpster. Team members: Emily FrankCooper GutberletBrayden HarpsterTaylor RockeyMason Robinson and Alex Vail.

  • Curtin Intermediate: Seventh Place, Division II, “(Name Here): The Musical Production” coached by Spring Moore and Kendra Thomas. Team members: Lynnae CampbellAva CarterCooper GutberletLily HamiltonAsher McClelland and Daniel Turner.

  • Curtin Intermediate: Sixth Place, Division I, “(Name Here): The Musical Production” coached by Clara Sponhouse. Team members: Elliot DerrPiper FoxBryce KelleyChase KelleyGracelyn RakerCaroline Ritter, and Violet Sponhouse.

The 2022 World Finals is scheduled for May 25-28 at Iowa State University.

OM teams from WASD have been successful at the programs regional and state levels, having earned coveted spots at the World Final competitions for the last seven consecutive years. Last spring, two of Curtin teams placed were among the top 10 in the world.
