Our School Day
Here is important information about our school’s schedule, as well as where and when children can access and exit the building.
Students must remain outside until first bell unless it is raining or there is extremely cold weather. For this reason, students should not arrive at school before 8:45 a.m.
Daily Schedule
8:50 a.m.
Students may enter the building
9:05 a.m.
Opening bell—classes begin
11:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.
Rotating schedule for recess and lunch
Various times
Afternoon recess
3:30 p.m.
Bus students and kindergarten dismissed
3:35 p.m.
Closing bell—classes end, students are dismissed
Arrival and Departure
Teachers will escort students to the exit doors and keep an eye on them as they go outside.
Arrival
- Bus Students
Bus students who are eating breakfast will exit the bus and enter Door 12. Bus students who are not eating breakfast will exit the bus and enter Door 16.
- Kindergarten
All Kindergarten students, whether they are or are not eating breakfast, will enter Door 1.
- Grade 1-3
All students eating breakfast in Grades 1, 2, and 3 will enter Door 12. Students who are not eating breakfast will enter Door 1.
Students arriving after 9:05 a.m. will be marked tardy and should report to the office with an adult for a tardy slip to take back to class.
Departure
- Kindergarten students in Mrs. Walter’s room and Miss Kirkendall’s room will depart from Door 1. Kindergarten students in Mrs. Beiter’s room and Mrs. Carpenter’s room will depart from Door 16. Kindergarten students in Mrs. Rogers’ room and Mrs. Miller’s room will depart from our courtyard next to Door 12.
- Grade 1 will depart from Door 1.
- Grade 2 will depart from Door 3.
- Grade 3 will depart from Door 2.
Adapted Schedule
2-hour delay schedule - classes will begin at 11:05 a.m.
Early dismissal - 1-hour early dismissal will be 2:35 p.m.; 2-hour early dismissal will be 1:35 p.m.
Half-day dismissal - 12:05 p.m.

After School Building Accessibility
Students who need to re-enter the building for forgotten items may do so until 4:00 p.m. Parents and/or students must alert a staff member upon entering the building after dismissal and may not enter a classroom unaccompanied.
Promptly at 4:00 p.m. each day, the school building will be locked. If parents or students need to enter the building after that time, please ring the buzzer. If a staff member is available, you will be permitted to enter the building.

Transportation
Any student who is eligible for school bus transportation will be assigned to a bus and will receive a letter which will include the bus number, bus stop location and pick-up and drop-off times.
Please contact the Pupil Transportation Department at 570-326-0671, ext. 10013, if you have any questions about your bus letter or you did not receive one.

Cochran Primary School implements school wide positive behavior (SWPB) principles which recognize and reinforce the school district’s behavioral expectations for all students. Student expectations are the 4 Bs:
