FAQ's

If my child has a personal laptop, do we still need a district Chromebook?

Although all classroom content can be accessed on any device at any time via Schoology, students will not be able to receive real-time instruction without using a district Chromebook.  Classroom teachers have the ability to monitor, support and call students via the district Chromebook.

If I chose not to participate in the District Chromebook Insurance Program initially, can I enroll at a later date?

Parents / Guardians have until October 1st to enroll in the Chromebook Insurance Program.  After October 1st, parents / guardians will need to wait until the next enrollment period for the following school year to enroll in the program.

How much does it cost to enroll my student's device in the Chromebook Insurance Program?

The enrollment fees are based off of the student's school lunch status.  If a student qualifies for free lunch, the cost for enrolling in the Insurance Program is $5 per student per year; Reduced lunch is $10 per student per year, and paid lunch student is $20 per student per year.

If my child damages their Chromebook, will I be billed as parent / guardian?

If you have enrolled in the Chromebook Insurance Program one incident per year is included free of charge.  Your student's device will be repaired / replaced, free of charge for the first incident, given that the incident is classified as accidental damage.  Each subsequent incident for that enrollment period will have a cost share equal to the original enrollment fee.

Can I pay the Chromebook Insurance Program enrollment fee online?

Yes, you can pay for the Chromebook Insurance Program enrollment fee, and any cost share invoices online at schoolcafe.com.

My student is a remote learner and I still need to pick up their device, how do I do that?

If you have not picked up the device for your remote learner, please contact the office of the school your child would go to if they were not remote.  The office staff will make arrangements for device pick up and Insurance Program enrollment.

I'm concerned about the privacy of my student.  Does anyone in the District have the ability to turn on Chromebook webcams?

No one at the district has the ability to turn the web cameras on.  Teachers will call the students and the student ALWAYS makes the decision whether to answer with or without a camera enabled.
