WILLIAMSPORT, P.a. (October 20th, 2026) - Williamsport Area School District is highlighting the work of two educators who are helping create new pathways into the teaching profession for students at

Mrs. Patti Miller and Mrs. Dana Schenck have worked tirelessly to develop the District’s CTE Education General program from the ground up, creating meaningful opportunities for students to explore the field of education while still in high school. Through their dedication, the program is helping inspire the next generation of educators and build a pipeline of future teachers within the local community.

Dr. Richard Poole, Assistant Superintendent, recently shared the story behind the initiative at the PASA-PSBA School Leadership Conference during his presentation, “Homegrown Educators: Building a Pipeline from Within Our Schools.” The presentation highlighted how the program evolved from an initial vision into an educational pathway that allows students to explore teaching as a potential career.

By introducing students to the teaching profession early in their educational journey, the CTE Education General program helps create opportunities for students to discover their interests and consider careers in education, while supporting the District’s efforts to develop future educators from within its own schools.

Williamsport Area School District is proud of Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Schenck for their leadership and commitment to building this program and thanks Dr. Poole for sharing its impact with educational leaders from across the state.

The District also extends its appreciation to School Board President Lori Baer and Board Member Barbara Reeves for attending the presentation, as well as to the entire Williamsport Area School Board for its continued support of this important initiative.

Through the dedication of its educators and continued support from District leadership, Williamsport Area School District remains committed to creating meaningful learning opportunities that prepare students for future careers and strengthen the educational community for years to come.
