WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (October 20, 2026) — The Williamsport Area School District is proud to announce that Chelsea Cramer, Primary Art Teacher at Cochran Primary School, has been named the recipient of the 2026 Pennsylvania Art Education Association (PAEA) Outstanding Elementary Art Educator Award.

Through a rigorous review process, PAEA recognized Cramer for her creative contributions, excellence in professional engagement, and dedication to service, highlighting her leadership and commitment to advancing art education across Pennsylvania.

“I’m truly honored to receive this recognition from PAEA. One of the things I love most about teaching art is watching students discover what they’re capable of when they have opportunities to make creative choices and explore their own ideas. I want my students to see themselves as artists, feel confident taking creative risks, and know that their ideas matter. For me, art education is about so much more than the finished artwork—it’s about the curiosity, independence, and problem-solving that happen along the way.”

Cramer also adds how important it is to work alongside other art educators that share the same passion: “I’m also fortunate to work alongside an amazing group of art educators who share ideas, encourage one another, and inspire me to keep learning and growing. Most of all, I feel lucky to spend my days teaching students who continually amaze me with their creativity and imagination. I’m grateful to be part of a profession that recognizes and celebrates the importance of art education.”

Cramer is dedicated to fostering creativity, confidence, and individuality through choice-based art education. She holds a Master of Science in Art Education from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Arts in Art from California State University, Northridge. She also studied art history in Florence, Italy, and completed specialized training in choice-based art curriculum design and studio practice at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

“Chelsea creates an environment where students feel empowered to explore their creativity, take risks, and develop confidence in their abilities,” said Alicia Differ, Unified K-12 Arts and 7-12 Curriculum Supervisor. “Her commitment to student-centered learning demonstrates how art education supports artistic expression, critical thinking, independence, and problem-solving. We are proud to see her dedication recognized at the state level.”

Cramer received formal recognition on Friday, October 16, at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
In addition to Cramer’s recognition, Jackie Thomas, retired WASD Assistant Superintendent, was presented the 2026 PAEA Board Ambassador Award.

WASD is proud to celebrate Cramer's achievement and the dedication of its educators who inspire creativity, support student learning, and make a lasting impact on the Millionaire community.
