WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (JUNE 25, 2026) — After earning top finishes at the state tournament, Williamsport Area School District's Odyssey of the Mind teams advanced to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
Earlier in the season, Curtin Intermediate School's Division I team claimed a first-place finish at the state competition, while Williamsport Area High School's Division III team earned second place, securing both teams a spot at World Finals. Williamsport Area Middle School also delivered an outstanding performance, placing third in the state competition.
Both qualifying teams competed in Problem 3, Classics... The Epic Quest, which challenged students to blend creativity, performance, and problem-solving while bringing an epic adventure to life on stage.
In the final weeks of the school year, students from Curtin and Williamsport Area High School embarked on an unforgettable journey to compete against teams from around the world, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities on the international stage.
Thanks to fundraising efforts, community support, and assistance from the Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation, these talented students were able to make the trip to Iowa. Following Memorial Day weekend, the Foundation proudly provided $8,228.61 in community-supported funding to help offset travel expenses for the teams and their families.
A total of 31 students and family members made the journey to Ames for this truly awesome quest. Beyond the competition itself, the experience provided opportunities to build friendships, explore new places, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Competing against some of the world's best teams, Curtin's Division I team earned an impressive 11th-place finish, while Williamsport Area High School's Division III team placed 9th in the world. These outstanding achievements reflect the hard work, dedication, and innovation of our students and coaches while proudly representing Williamsport Area School District on a global stage.
To cap off an incredible Odyssey of the Mind season, the two teams were honored on the floor of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for their achievements at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals.
Congratulations to everyone involved on the extraordinary accomplishments that came with this year's Odyssey of the Mind season.
