WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (June 5, 2026) — Last evening, 289 graduates proudly celebrated their achievements and received their diplomas during Williamsport Area High School’s 155th Commencement Ceremony. The ceremony opened with a performance of the National Anthem by Class of 2026 member William Ciabattari on the violin.
Those in attendance had the privilege of hearing commencement addresses from graduating seniors Elijah Hopton and Petrova Hinshaw. Senior Class President Emma Vollman also delivered remarks. Each speaker reflected on this year’s commencement theme, inspired by the quote from Dead Poets Society: “Carpe diem. Seize the day. Make your lives extraordinary.”
Sadie Bower and William Ciabattari were recognized as the Class of 2026 salutatorian and valedictorian, respectively.
Among the scholarships, awards, and prizes presented throughout the evening, $142,761.44 was awarded to select graduates through funds held by the Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation.
In addition, this year’s high school retirees were recognized and honored for their years of dedicated service to the district and its students.
The district congratulates each graduate and wishes them continued success in all their future endeavors.
