WASD Names New Head Cheerleading Coach

Williamsport, PA – Williamsport Area High School is proud to announce the hiring of Catherine Washington as the new Head Cheerleading Coach.

A proud alumnus of Williamsport Area High School, Washington cheered for four years as a student-athlete, where she developed a strong foundation in teamwork, dedication, and school spirit. Her experience representing the Millionaires has come full circle as she returns to lead the program with passion and pride.

Washington brings 15 years of coaching experience at multiple levels, demonstrating a deep commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the mat. Throughout her coaching career, she has emphasized strong fundamentals while fostering leadership, confidence, and personal growth among her athletes.

Her expertise includes organizing and implementing effective practices, teaching proper cheer motions, stunts, and routines, and preparing teams for both game-day performances and competitive environments. Washington is also dedicated to promoting a safe, positive, and inclusive atmosphere where student-athletes can thrive.

“We are excited to welcome Catherine back to the Williamsport Area High School,” said Athletic Director Sean McCann. “Her experience, enthusiasm, and connection to our school community make her an outstanding fit to lead our cheerleading program.”
