WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (MARCH 18, 2026) — Kevin Brown and Jamie “Rocky” Miller were hired as head coaches for the Williamsport Area School District during Tuesday night’s school board meeting. Brown was approved as head football coach, while Miller was hired as head golf coach.
Brown is a graduate of Williamsport Area High School, where he earned three varsity letters in football before continuing his playing career at Lock Haven University for three years.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to coach at my alma mater and begin working with the students for the 2026 season,” Brown said.
Brown previously served as an assistant football coach at WAHS from 2012 through 2021, working as running backs coach, offensive coordinator and associate head coach. In that role, he also was responsible for scheduling daily practice plans and handling game-day play-calling duties.
During the 2016 season as offensive coordinator, the team’s offense ranked ninth in the nation in yards per game, averaging 500 yards and 50 points per contest.
Most recently, Brown served as running backs coach at Lycoming College from 2023 through 2025. He also has been active in youth athletics, including serving as a Little League Baseball coach, and twice worked as offensive coordinator for the District IV Football All-Star Game.
A Williamsport resident, Brown has three sons — Quinton, Marshall and Deacon — who graduated from WAHS.
Miller serves as a history teacher at WAHS, where he has taught for the past eight years.
“I’m excited to work with our golfers as they continue to learn and grow in the sport,” Miller said.
A graduate of South Williamsport Area High School, Miller was a three-sport athlete, competing in football, wrestling and baseball.
He went on to attend Bucknell University, where he was a three-year starter for the school’s Division I wrestling program.
Miller has been an assistant golf coach at WAHS for the past three years. In addition to his coaching experience, he has served as a PIAA wrestling official for 24 years and has been recognized for his outstanding service as the District IV wrestling official of the year 11 different times.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Brown and Coach Miller into these leadership roles within our athletic program,” said Athletic Director Sean McCann. “Both bring valuable experience as educators and coaches, as well as strong connections to our community. We look forward to the continued growth of our football and golf programs under their leadership.”
