3 WASD Odyssey of the Mind Teams Advance to State Finals

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (MARCH 3, 2026) — Three of the six Williamsport Area School District (WASD) Odyssey of the Mind teams that competed in the Regional Tournament on Feb. 28 in Berwick are headed to the State Finals.

This year’s contending teams from WASD were represented by Cochran Primary School, Curtin Intermediate School, Jackson Primary School, Williamsport Area Middle School (WAMS) and Williamsport Area High School (WAHS). 

Those advancing to the State Finals are:

  • Curtin Intermediate: first place, Division I, “The Epic Quest,” coached by Spring Moore and Kat Walter. Team members: Freya Allen, Evie Fisher, Felix Fisher, Flynn Moore, Lucas Morrow, Oliver Repella and Anneliese Walter.
  • WAHS: first place, Division III, “The Epic Quest,” coached by Spring Moore and Kendra Reeder. Team members: Ava Carter, Cooper Gutberlet, Brayden Harpster, Petrova Hinshaw, Rocco Mirabito, Mason Robinson and Daniel Turner.
  • WAMS, second place, Division II, “Taller Tales of John Jivery,” coached by Harry Frank, Amanda Gimmi and Amy Harpster. Team members: Briella Evans, Alexander Frank, Connor Gimmi, Haddie Harpster, and Elianna Matter.

The WAHS team also received the coveted OMER Award, which recognizes “Odyssey spirit,” through teamwork, sportsmanship and going beyond expectations to help others.

While they competed, the following teams will not advance to the State Finals:

  • Cochran Primary, fourth place, Division I, “Taller Tales of John Jivery,” coached by Meara Duffy, Janine Repella and Nick Repella. Team members: Kora Brown, Cora Cohick, Emma Morrow, Charlotte Paulhamus, Oscar Repella, Percy Shaffer and Everett Stover.
  • Curtin Intermediate, third place, Division I, “Off the Rails,” coached by Christine Brooks-Taitt. Team members: Coen Evans, Huck Hepler, Scarlet Riggle, Ava Taitt and Lincoln Tramontana-Dougherty.
  • Jackson Primary, fourth place, Division I, “Taller Tales of John Jivery,” coached by Brian Walton. Team members: Orion Fiola, Odin Fiola, Nick Gilson, Lexi Perry, William Singmaster, Victoria Walton and Oliver Walton.

The state tournament is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at Pocono Mountain School District’s East Campus.

OM teams from WASD have been successful at the programs regional and state levels, having earned top spots at the World Final competitions in recent years.
