WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (JUNE 6, 2025) — Last evening, 298 graduates proudly celebrated their achievements and received their diplomas during Williamsport Area High School’s 154th commencement ceremony.
Those in attendance had the privilege of hearing commencement speeches made by members of the senior class — Elijah Nilson and Paiton Miller. The senior Class President, Khamani Dyson, also made remarks. Each delivered a message set to a theme based on a quote from Paul Brandt: “Don’t tell me the sky’s the limit; there’s footprints on the moon.”
“The Class of 2025 didn’t simply aim high. You challenged the standard,” said Head Principal Dr. Justin Ross. “You challenged the standard. You re-defined what it means to reach. You didn’t wait around for permission to dream big. You stepped forward, pushed boundaries and made your mark, again and again.
“It’s not just what you’ve accomplished, it’s how you carried yourselves,” he said. “With strength and with class, you’ve led this school. You’ve raised the bar. You’ve built a legacy that can’t be measured in trophies or test scores; it’s measured in the impact you made. You’ve already proven that the sky isn’t the limit, it’s just the view from the starting line.”
Robert Leiter and Chelsey Harrison were named salutatorian and valedictorian, respectively.
Among the scholarships, awards and prizes granted to students, $77,068 was granted to select graduates held at the Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation. In addition, this year’s high school retirees were acknowledged and honored for their service to the district and its students over the years.
