WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (JANUARY 10, 2025) — Every year just before Winter Break, programs within the Williamsport Area High School's Career & Technical Education Program — automotive, construction trades, engineering and robotics, precision machining and welding — host a "shop breakfast."
The purpose of this breakfast is to introduce program students to the community leaders who support our programs and are potential employers after graduation. The students come in at 6:15 a.m., bringing food, enthusiasm and the soft skills they've been learning in their programs.
This provides an opportunity for students to build community connections, practice interview skills and even be given employment opportunities. CTE program teachers work closely with business leaders to assist students with their futures, and their students have fun in the process.
The companies in attendance this year:
- Stephen Ulmer, Lovell-Strouble Machine Works
- Levi Schappel and John Skrutzky- Lycoming Engines
- Sam Shea and Jerry Ulsamer, PMF
- Zoie Boyer, Pneu-Dart
- Mathew Lorson, Stellant
- West Co. (West sent reps to support both the Engineering and Precision Machining programs)
- Adam Kilpatrick, senior manager, Process Engineering
- Don Cole, production manager
- Erich Bowes, automation manager
- Ron Long, manufacturing engineering
- Karen Daugherty, human resources manager
