25 Winners Selected in Annual WASD Holiday Essay Contest

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (DECEMBER 17, 2024) — The Williamsport Area School District recently concluded its annual Holiday Essay Contest, during which students in kindergarten through third grade were asked to answer, in 200 words or less, “What is your favorite holiday memory and why?”

The top 25 winners were selected and will receive free ride on the trolley for an exclusive Holiday Tour of Lights on Tuesday, Dec. 17, sponsored by River Valley Transit Authority. They will also receive a special gift, provided by the district’s federal programs department.
This year’s winners are:

  • Lillian Bower, third grade, Jackson Primary
  • Redding Darrow, first grade, Hepburn-Lycoming Primary
  • Oliver Duitch, second grade, Cochran Primary
  • Leeahana Durlin, second grade, Cochran Primary
  • Addyson Folmar-Yahn, second grade, Hepburn-Lycoming Primary
  • Alyvia Harper, second grade, Hepburn-Lycoming Primary
  • Jayla-Lee Harris, third grade, Jackson Primary
  • Bransen Hill, kindergarten, Hepburn-Lycoming Primary
  • Claire Hoyt, second grade, Jackson Primary
  • Ben Knipe, second grade, Hepburn-Lycoming Primary
  • Misha Lakatos, third grade, Cochran Primary
  • Genesis, Lopez-Sanchez, first grade, Jackson Primary
  • Lewis Lorson, first grade, Hepburn-Lycoming Primary
  • Willow McDonald, third grade, Jackson Primary
  • Payton Paulhamus, second grade, Jackson Primary
  • Warren Renninger, second grade, Hepburn-Lycoming Primary
  • Oliver Repella, second grade, Cochran Primary
  • Oscar Repella, first grade, Cochran Primary

In addition to the trolley ride, two top essay winners were selected and received a $25 gift card to Kaos Fun Zone. These two students are Mahki Lundy, a second-grade student at Jackson Primary School, and Armoni Mandville, a third-grade student at Cochran Primary School.

Following the trolley ride, this year’s winners also will get to enjoy an exclusive story time session with cookies and hot chocolate, provided and served by students from Williamsport Area High School’s culinary arts program.
