WAMS Boys Track and Field End Undefeated Season by Snagging Championship Title

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (MAY 15, 2023) — The Williamsport Middle School boys track and field team capped off an undefeated season by winning the 43-school Altoona Middle School Championship on Saturday, May 13, scoring 95.5 points, defeating both Altoona and Chambersburg, who both had 85 points.

Cordoza Minor won shot put and discus.

Alex Takach won the 200 and placed in the 100, long jump and high jump.

Peter Fisher was on the winning 3200 relay team and placed within the 400 relay and the 1600 relay teams.

Colyn Jandrisavitz led off for the winning 3200 relay team, and placed on the 400 relay team.

Noah Scholnick ran on the winning 3200 relay team and placed in the 1600 and 800 runs.

Trace Town anchored the winning 3200 relay team and placed in the 400, while setting a new school record, and ran on the 1600 relay team which scored points.

Connor Hofstrom placed in the 1600 and the 1600 relay.

Dashawn Eiswerth ran as part of the 1600 relay.

Anthony Manley placed in shot put.

Trey Damschroder and DJ Harris placed in the triple jump.

Other athletes that qualified for the championship meet were Aidan Barner, Logan Snauffer, Jahki Burget, Lauger Waldman, Austin Furey, Jayiere Ruff, Eli Weaver, Noah Baird and Owen Newcomer.

The team responded to the competition, setting 28 personal bests out of 50 opportunities.
Athletic.net recognized Minor as the field athlete of the meet, scoring 20 points and Takach as the overall MVP of the meet, scoring 29 points while competing both on the track and in the field.
