WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (MAY 18, 2022) — Last night, the Williamsport Area School Board voted unanimously to close Stevens Primary School, effective June 30, 2022. 

The closure comes after thorough and careful review of option presented to the district and school board as part of the district-wide feasibility study launched in 2020. The purpose of the study was to provide the district with a comprehensive report to use as a resource for long-term decision making about the district’s educational facilities.

As we look ahead at what’s next, we plan to present the new boundaries for our primary buildings during our Tuesday, June 7, school board meeting.

Following that meeting, we’ll plan to send correspondence to families affected by Stevens’ closure, notifying them of the anticipated change of their child’s home school. Any notification regarding transportation will be sent later in the summer when we traditionally send out bussing information for the new school year.
