Dear WASD Families,
This summer has brought uniquely wet conditions to our community and schools.
As with other school districts experiencing the same issue across the state, we are making families aware that the record amounts of rain and extensive humidity over the last several weeks have created moisture and mold-related issues within some areas of our buildings. We would like to assure you that the district has and is working diligently to remediate this issue before the start of school.
To ensure building conditions are healthy and safe for students and staff, the district, as a precaution, has contracted with a third party company, ServPro, to provide an added layer of cleaning to schools where these conditions exist. In addition to these specialized cleaning services, the district is working with air quality specialists to test all buildings to ensure our students and staff have a safe return to the new year.
We are providing this information now to be in good communication with our families and the community to assure the public that the health and safety of our students and staff is of the highest priority. No delays to school activities and the first day of school are anticipated. Updated information will be provided through district social media pages, website (www.wasd.org), and all-call system on Monday, August 20, 2018, by 6 p.m.
