Williamsport Pride Throughout the World

Williamsport Area School District educates students and arms them with the tools they need to go out into the world, grow into adulthood, establish careers, and contribute to their communities. Our WAHS alumni are scattered throughout the world, both near and far, and have put their mark on the world in which they live in both in big and small ways and continue to give back to their home community.

Distinguished Alumni


Since 2012, the alumni committee has presented the Distinguished Alumni Award to outstanding WAHS alumni. The award honors our notable alumni who have been outstanding in their professional accomplishments and have made significant achievements benefiting their local and/or global communities. Our Distinguished Alumni are recognized annually by their peers during a special ceremony during Homecoming week. The recipients are inducted into the Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame at WAHS. 
Outstanding Recent Alumni Award

Given to an alumnus who has graduated 10 years ago or less. It recognizes outstanding service and accomplishments of an exceptional alumnus. Area of service may include professional, personal and civic.

Distinguished Alumni Service Award

Given to an alumnus who has provided outstanding service to his/her profession and/or community.

Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award

Given to an alumnus who has modeled and employed a focus on achievement within his/her profession.

Distinguished Alumni Humanitarian Award

Given to an alumnus who has provided extraordinary service for the benefit of others.

Upcoming Reunions

  • The Class of 1966 has decided that, due to the COVID-19 restrictions still in place, it will not have a 55th reunion in 2021.  Instead, the class will celebrate its 60th reunion in 2026.
  • The Class of 1964 will celebrate their 60th reunion on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Farrington Place, 416 West Third St.,  in Williamsport. For more information or to provide any updated classmate information, please contact Carol (Shaw) Durrwachter or David Durrwachter at [email protected].

Last evening, the district received confirmation on the death of one of its students in an update from the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office. “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of our students,” said Superintendent Dr. Timothy S. The U.S. Department of Justice recently notified Lycoming County officials that many of its polling locations are not ADA compliant. As an alternative to bringing these locations into compliance, the county has requested use of public schools in selected locations to conduct voting services on election days — indefinitely — beginning in November 2023.

Curtin Intermediate held its annual Socktoberfest on Sept. 30. The kickoff event launched the school’s month-long sock drive to benefit local agencies that provide family support in and around the Williamsport area.

The WASD Education Foundation recently awarded two grants totaling $4,379 to support programs at both Williamsport Area Middle School and Williamsport Area High School.

Thanks to a donation made by the district's insurance firm, a group of students in need will receive a free coat to wear this winter. The coats, donated as part of the firm's Coats 4 Kids Drive, will be given to identified high school students in need.
