7 WAHS Students, 1 Faculty Member Among Those Honored at 'Women of Excellence' Celebration

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (NOVEMBER 3, 2023) — Seven Williamsport Area High School students and one faculty member were among those honored at the 15th annual Women of Excellence celebration, hosted by YWCA Northcentral PA on Thursday night at the Community Arts Center.

Among the evening’s seven award categories — each for professionals and high school student nominees — seniors Payton Baney was chosen in Sports, Charley Greevy in Advocacy, Emlyn Kinley in STEM, Kathryn Niklaus in Arts & Culture, and Elizabeth Shultz in Health & Wellness. Junior Faith Nonemaker was this year’s Junior Rising Star (grades 9-11).

Senior Ella Wilson, who was last year’s Junior Rising Star, also was a nominee in the Advocacy category.

WAHS math teacher Wendy Fowler also was a nominee in the STEM category.

Thirty-six nominations were made and 14 awards were granted from among the following categories: Art & Culture, Education, Advocacy, Health & Wellness, STEM, Sports, and Rising Star.
