Williamsport Virtual Academy

About

WASD offers its Virtual Academy to students in grades K-12.  WASD’s Virtual Academy provides a full-time virtual learning program for those students.

Students who have a need and are interested in the program are required to apply for admission and must be approved to participate. For the 2021-2022 school year, the program will serve students with qualifying extenuating circumstances (including physical and mental health-related reasons, as well as demonstrated academic success during virtual learning).

The Virtual Academy is a centrally-managed program and partners with the online platform Edgenuity to provide the academic support students need to thrive in virtual instruction.

Program Eligibility & Application Process

WASD Virtual Academy is set up for students in grades K-12.  Students with qualifying extenuating circumstances (including physical and mental health-related reasons, as well as demonstrated academic success during virtual learning) may qualify.

Eligible students must complete the application process to be considered for WASD Virtual Academy.

Students will continue to have access to services at their home school including extra-curricular activities, clubs and athletics.

(NOTE: While the WASD Virtual Academy offers full-time enrollment, enrollment in the Virtual Academy is intended to be a full-year commitment for the 2021-2022 school year. However, students may apply to transfer into the Virtual Academy at the end of the first semester.)

Student Support

The district's Virtual Academy provides an integrated, team-based system of support from the dedicated homeroom teacher responsible for student success to subject-area teachers able to provide face-to-face support during the regular school day on campus.
