WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (JANUARY 28, 2020) — Curtin and Lycoming Valley Intermediate schools announced that they once again will host their annual YAM-JAM events in March.
While the events are held to celebrate National Youth Art and Music in Our Schools month, each schools’ event is different.
Curtin’s fifth annual event will run 5-7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6, in the gymnasium, set to a 1970s-era theme of “Disco-ver Your Inner Artist!”
Curtin’s event will feature musical performances by the school’s select vocal ensemble, ukulele group, chamber orchestra, jazz band and a sing-a-long. An art gallery featuring student work will be on display. Attendees also may visit a number of stations to explore and make art, experience the fusion of art and technology, and enjoy literacy experiences. Attendees also will get a chance to make macramé keychains, graffiti art, take pictures in a photo booth, play Atari and classic board games, and more.
Visitors should enter Curtin on the east side of the school through Door 9 and are encouraged to wear their favorite 70s attire.
Lycoming Valley’s fourth annual YAM-JAM event will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27, in the school’s gymnasium and cafeteria.
The event will showcase student work in both art and music, student work from around WASD, and community. Interactive science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) activities will be provided by local art and music vendors as well as LVIS faculty and staff.
Performances from LVIS and students will continue throughout the evening.
Both events will have basket raffles, provided by and benefitting their PTOs.
