WASD Seeks Candidates to Fill Board Vacancy

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (SEPTEMBER 7, 2018) — The Williamsport Area School District seeks qualified candidates to fill a vacancy on its school board.

The district will accept applications now through Tuesday, Oct. 2. Appointment of a new school director is anticipated to occur on or before Tuesday, Oct. 9. The appointee shall serve until Nov. 30, 2019, and may run for election in the 2019 municipal election. 

 Qualifications to serve are:

  • S/he shall be at least 18 years old.
  • S/he shall be a resident of the Williamsport Area School District for at least one year prior to the date of appointment.
  • S/he shall not be a holder of any office or position of profit under any government in the Williamsport Area School District nor shall s/he be a member of council in any municipality in the school district.
  • S/he shall not have been removed from any office of trust under federal, state or local laws for any malfeasance in such office.
  • S/he shall not be employed by the school district.
  • S/he may only be involved in business transactions with the school district as permitted by the School Code.
