Update: WASD Buildings Cleared for Occupancy

District Wide

August 29, 2018 | Community

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AUGUST 29, 2018) — The district is pleased to report that all of its buildings have been cleared for occupancy as of Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, by Compliance Management International Inc. (CMI), an independent air quality testing company.  CMI’s official confirmation letter for occupancy will be made public when available. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding over the past two weeks as we worked to remediate our buildings of moisture and mold-related issues.

After extensive cleaning and air quality testing by third-party companies, the district continues to clean and test one classroom at Hepburn-Lycoming Primary School and another at Williamsport Area High School. These rooms will not be used by students or staff until CMI has verified that they are brought up to a usable standard.  CMI has confirmed that these rooms are not a health risk and will not affect the building or other classrooms.

All open houses planned for this week will remain on schedule.  The first day of school for students is Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018.
