CURRICULUM REPORT CONTD:
7.6
Consider approving the submission of the following adult education grants for
the 2008-09 program year:
Pennsylvania State Act 143 grant in the amount of $30,544
Federal Section 231 grant in the amount of $67,498
To enter into a subcontract with The Lycoming County Literacy Program to
provide adult education instruction to their Family Literacy participants in
the amount of $12,742
This total figure of $110,784 is the same amount as last years grant
total.
7.7
Consider approval of a Letter of Agreement with Child Guidance Services to
provide paraprofessional Home-School Visitor services to the families of
students referred by administrators in the District. This service is a service
of the Governors Safe Schools Initiative and is fully funded by that
Initiatives grant. The intent is to improve communications with the
homes of students experiencing difficulties at school, reducing problematic
behaviors. Service levels are limited to available grant funds from through
June 30, 2008, and, if renewed, through June 30, 2009.

Consider allowing the Williamsport YMCA to use multi-purpose room and minor
other facilities for the provision of Before and After School Child Care at
Cochran, Hepburn-Lycoming, Jackson, Sheridan and Round Hills Elementary Schools
during the 2008-09 school year. As these programs are a direct advantage to
District families, the waiver of fees is requested.
7.9
Consider approval of the use of elementary school facilities by Diakon Family
Services to stage Girls On The Run programs. Use is primarily limited to
outside facilities and restrooms, with limited indoor access in the event of
inclement weather. As the District participated in the establishment of Girls
On The Run in this community and the services are a direct benefit to our
students, waiver of usage fees is requested.

Yul B. Holloway, P.O. Box 1961, Williamsport, from a full-time Administrative
Support I in the Tax Office at the DSC to a full-time Administrative Support I
(245 day, 7½ hours per day) in the Red House at the high school, with a
base wage rate of $28, 316, prorated ($15.41 per hour), effective April 14,
2008 (replacing Diane Burns, transferred).

Amanda M. Eichenlaub, 2720 West Fourth St., Williamsport, from a substitute
food service worker to a general food service worker (4½ hours daily) at
Jackson Elementary School, with a base wage rate of $10.56 per hour, effective
April 16, 2008 (replacing Katherine Hoover, resigned).

Consider approving an extension of Dana A. Strunks work schedule
(Administrative Support, part-time - Music/Gifted and Data Analysis Departments
at the DSC) for up to 14 additional days to prepare for the start of the
2008-2009 school year. 10.
STUDENT/COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Consider approving the following student trips contd:
DD.
Sixteen (16) members of the Williamsport Area High Schools Cherry, White
&
Blues singers, accompanied by their teacher, to travel to Mansfield University
during April 2008 to attend a vocal jazz festival.
District transportation is requested. One substitute will be required for the
day.
EE.
Twenty (20) members of the Curtin Middle School Jazz Band, accompanied by their
teacher and a parent, to travel to Brandon Park during April 2008 to perform
at the Arbor Day ceremony.
The students will walk to and from the park. There will be no cost to the
District.
