The Regular Meeting of the Board of School Directors of the Williamsport Area School District of which all members were duly notified and of which due public notice was given as required by Act 84 of 1986, was held on Tuesday evening, July 10, 2007, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Board of Directors Room, District Service Center, 201 West Third Street, Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The Board Secretary, Charles E. Peterson, Jr., called the meeting to order with the following members

A. Interscholastic Athletic and Voluntary Student Accident Insurance with AG Administrators, Inc. at a cost of $17,750 (FY07 $15,000). The voluntary student accident insurance premium is also unchanged at $28 for school time and $124 for 24-hour coverage.

CURRICULUM REPORT
7.1 Approve a Theatre Club to be held after school from 3:30 to 5:00 on Monday ;s and Wednesdays for the 2007-2008 school year at Round Hills Elementary School. The club is open to all students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 from the Round Hills Elementary School. Volunteer advisors for the club are Mick Cioffi, Dena Mesaris, Maureen Richards, and Ed Richards. Transportation will be provided by parents. There is no cost to the district.
7.2 Approve the following middle school family and consumer science teachers for up to two days of summer curriculum work in July or August. Compensation is at the rate of $90 per day and is paid through College and Career Counseling grant.

7.3 Approve the Harcourt Social Studies program for Grades 1, 2, 3, and 5. This program replaces the Heath Social Studies program that was purchased approximately 15 years ago. (Note: Grade 4 is using a Pennsylvania Studies program that is from a separate company.) The cost of the program is funded through the elementary curriculum and site-based budgets.
7.4 Approve of up to 20 additional days of service as needed for Lisa Nible, School Psychologist, during the 2007-08 school year. Mrs. Nible is to be paid her per diem rate for days actually worked. This addition partially replaces days of School Psychologist service removed from the Intermediate Unit contract.

The following substitute administrative support/aides, subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the hourly rates as established by Board policy (Administrative Support - $7.50/hr., Instructional Aide - $7.15/hr.; up to a maximum of 180 days/year) and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked:

Leigey, 487 Old Glade Run Rd., Muncy, as a temporary professional employee, effective with the 2007-2008 school term (scheduled date is August 23, 2007), to teach Auto Mechanics at the high school, at a salary rate of Step 1, bachelors, $39,000, provided Mr. Leigey obtains Pennsylvania Department of Education certification and all appropriate documentation by August 22, 2007 (replacing Daniel Keyte, resigned). Mr. Leigey will also be scheduled to participate in Induction Program activities before the start of the 2007-2008 school term.
D. The Williamsport Area School District extends a conditioned offer of employment to Amanda L. Palmer, R.R. 1, Box 5388, Canton, as a temporary professional employee, effective with the 2007-2008 school term (scheduled date is August 23, 2007), to teach Family and Consumer Science Education at the high school, at a salary rate of Step 1, bachelors, $39,000, provided Ms. Palmer obtains Pennsylvania Department of Education certification and all appropriate documentation by August 22, 2007 (replacing Jean Roan, retired). Ms. Palmer will also be scheduled to participate in Induction Program activities before the start of the 2007-2008 school term.

E. The Williamsport Area School District extends a conditioned offer of employment to Elizabeth A. Sauers, 681 Third Ave., Williamsport, as a temporary professional employee, effective with the 2007-2008 school term (scheduled date is August 23, 2007), to teach Family and Consumer Science Education at the high school, at a salary rate of Step 1, bachelors, $39,000, provided Ms. Sauers obtains Pennsylvania Department of Education certification and all appropriate documentation by
August 22, 2007 (replacing Patricia Schick, resigned). Ms. Sauers will also be scheduled to participate in Induction Program activities before the start of the 2007-2008 school term.

against fat. He
will share the article with the board. Throwing money at the problem
