Consider approving the second reading and adoption of the School
Lunch/Breakfast Program Charged Meal Policy. Questions may be directed

CURRICULUM REPORT CONTD:
7.11
Consider approving the Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary School 2007-08
Student/Parent Handbook.
7.12
Consider the approval of Child Guidance Services to provide home-school visitor
services in support of attendance at the Districts summer school
programs. Services will be billed on an as-used basis and are estimated at
$15,000 for all services. All costs will be covered by the Sheridan Project
(21st Century Learning Centers, Cohort 2) grant.
7.13
Consider approval of reimbursement of the YWCA of Northcentral Pennsylvania for
training costs for staff to provide middle school after-school programming.
Training includes the use of the Districts chosen social skills program,
Second Step, in the after-school program. Costs, not to exceed $1,000, are to
be covered by the Sheridan Project grant.

Consider approval of training regarding Gang Influences and
Identifiers, provided by staff of the Mid-Atlantic, Great Lakes Organized
Crime Law Enforcement Network, for all administrators and members of each
buildings crisis teams. Staff not normally working on the scheduled
training date will be compensated through the Governors Safe Schools
Initiative grant. Final cost will be determined by availability of staff.

CURRICULUM REPORT CONTD:
7.17
Consider approving Randy Laird and Mike Lundy for 2 days and Tom Croce for 1
day as staff developers to provide training for math teachers for the Middle
School Sheridan Project this summer. Compensation is at the rate of $90 per
day and is paid through Sheridan Project.
7.18
Consider the adoption and purchase of AP Biology, 7th edition, published by
Pearson/Prentice-Hall, for use by seniors at WAHS who elect the advanced life
science course, Biology 2. The text has a copyright of 2005, costs $102.47
each (HS bindings) and will replace outdated and worn textbooks. The text was
selected by a committee consisting of two biology teachers and the science
supervisor. This text comes with a significant online resource that is
available to students free upon adoption for use in the school. This is the
most popular and widely accepted AP Biology textbook in the country.
7.19
Consider the adoption and purchase of Algebra 2, published by McDougal Littell,
for use by students at WAHS who elect the math course, Algebra II. The text
has a copyright of 2007 and costs $67.38 each. This new textbook will replace
outdated and worn high school textbooks. The text was selected by a committee
consisting of three math teachers and the math supervisor. This text comes
with a significant online resource that is available to students free upon
adoption for use in the school.

Consider approving a new textbook series for middle level mathematics, Everyday
Mathematics. This program is currently being used through Grade 5 in our
elementary schools and is recommended for use at Grade 6 in each of the middle
schools beginning next fall (Everyday Mathematics, Grade 6, copyright 2007).
Teachers have already received two days of professional development this spring
in anticipation of the implementation of this very successful research-based
math curriculum. Continuation of a proposed three-year implementation plan
will bring Everyday Mathematics to seventh grade classrooms in 2008-2009 and
eighth grade classrooms in 2009-2010.

Consider hiring Emily Pearson from the Carbone Clinic, 614 Corporate Way,
Valley Cottage New York, 10989 for $1800 for one day (to be determined) plus
travel expenses to deliver training to a paraprofessional working with a
student with autism at Cochran Elementary. The training will include specific
data collection techniques as well as instructional interventions for students
with autism/communication disorders.

Consider paying Sharon Corter, paraprofessional at Cochran Elementary to attend
individual training from the Carbone Clinic for up to 8 hours a day (to be
determined) at her hourly rate.

School, at a salary rate of Step 1, bachelor's, $39,000, prorated (replacing
Debbie Anderson, on sabbatical leave). Ms. Dincher has previously attended
Induction Day activities.

Christine A. MacKenzie, 1558 Overbrook Rd., Williamsport, from a full-time to a
part-time (5/7) professional employee, to teach English as a Second Language
(ESL) at the high school, effective beginning with the 2007-2008 school term
(tentative starting date of August 23, 2007), at a salary rate of Step 13,
masters maximum, $67,600, prorated to 5/7. Mrs. MacKenzie has requested
this transfer due to a decrease in the number of students requiring ESL
services.

Elizabeth A. Lyons, 1122 George St., Williamsport, from a half-time (½)
Guided Reading teacher to a full-time Elementary (5th
Grade) teacher at Sheridan Elementary School, at a salary rate of Step 2,
bachelor's, $40,100 (replacing full-time contract previously held by Susan
Huddy-Krecji, retired).

La'Don I. Oliver, 509 High St., Williamsport, from a part-time Administrative
Support I in the Vocational Education Dept. (ELECT/EFI Program) at the high
school to a part-time Administrative Support I (245 day, 5 hours per day) for
the Student Services Department at the DSC, with a base wage rate of $11.21 per
hour, effective July 9, 2007 (new position approved by the Board; Ms. Oliver's
position in the Vocational Education Department was being eliminated due to
reduced grant funding available).

Kathy M. Shirey, 503 Eden St., Jersey Shore, full-time Administrative Support I
in Red House Guidance at the high school, from 185 days (7 hours per day) to
205 days (7 hours per day) with a base wage rate of $22,113 ($15.41 per hour),
effective August 17, 2007 (position revised beginning with the 2007-2008 school
year).
8.6 CONTRACTED SERVICES
Consider approving the following:

Stephanie A. Ellison, 2413 Ritchey St., Williamsport, qualified interpreter of
American Sign Language (ASL) and Pidgin Sign English (PSE) to provide
day-to-day substitute interpreter services (as needed) to eligible students at
the rate of $35.00 per hour for hours worked and travel time (not to exceed one
hour per day), effective June 28, 2007, through August 24, 2007.
