4.1   BOARD PRESIDENT’S REPORT CONT’D:

 

 G.   Presentation by Cherry & White Staff Members

 

 H.   Consider approving the appointment of Fred A. Holland, Esq., as the District’s       Solicitor for the 2007-2008 fiscal year and establish his compensation to include a     retainer of $20,000 (unchanged) and an hourly rate of $115 ($105 since FY05) for    extraordinary services.

 

7.   CURRICULUM REPORT CONT’D:

 

7.20   Consider approving the following WAHS mathematics teachers for 4 days each of summer curriculum work in June and July. These teachers will develop the new math courses, Algebra IA and Algebra IB this summer.

7.21   Consider approving the following WAHS mathematics teachers for 2 days each of summer curriculum work in June. These teachers will revise the existing high school math course, Introduction to Algebra, this summer.

7.22   Consider approving the Cochran Elementary School 2007-08 Student-Parent Handbook.

 

7.23   Consider approving Jessica Long to provide one day of public relations training at the daily substitute rate on July 2, 2007.

 

7.24   Consider approval of the operation of two individual weeks of Camp Ophelia, a program focused on young girls’ relational aggression, during summer of 2007. Camp is to be operated by two members of the professional staff, Carol DeSilva and Tamra Springman, and one aide, Linda Ross, all of whom have training and/or experience in the operation of this program. Professional staff are to be paid $950 each per week and the aide at a rate of $13.54 per hour, not to exceed 95 hours. All costs to be paid by the Governor’s Safe Schools Initiative grant.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8.  PERSONNEL REPORT

 

8.4*  ELECTION OF STAFF  

 

  Consider the election of the following staff, for the purpose and on the date indicated:

 

 N.   The following substitute teacher(s), subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the salary and/or daily rates as established by Board policy ($90 per day for first 45 days; $110 per day for days beyond the 45th day; up to a maximum of 180 days/year), and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked:

 

    Gladwin E. Yenner   205 Eagle Mountain Rd., Cogan Station (effective 06/11/07)

 

 O.   The following substitute administrative support/aide(s), subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the hourly rates as established by Board policy (Administrative Support - $7.50/hr., Instructional Aide - $6.75/hr.; up to a maximum of 180 days/year) and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked:

   

    Linda A. Zegarski  1119 Charles St., Williamsport

 

 P.   Dr. Shelley L. Litz, 2347 Wheatland Ave., Williamsport, to provide 45 minutes of Reading Recovery instruction at Cochran Elementary School for up to 10 days (total not to exceed 7.5 hours) to one student from Cochran Elementary School, at the rate of $26.22 per hour, effective during June 2007. All funds are budgeted under Title I.

 

 Q.   The following person(s) as Middle Level Summer School Teachers for 3½ hours per day, 5 days per week, plus one 30 minute building meeting each week beginning July 9 through August 3, 2007, at the rate of $27.03   per hour plus appropriate benefits. Teachers will also participate in up to two staff development days at $90/day prior to the start of summer school. Employment is contingent upon participation in appropriate professional development activities as well as student enrollment. All costs are budgeted under Sheridan Project Grant:

 R.   Consider authorizing a position for a part-time aide to assist with the Athletic       Program at the high school for the dates of June 11, 12, and 13, 2007, for up to 35     hours total, at the current contract rate. Name of individual will be provided at the     June 28, 2007 Board Meeting (this position is currently posted and the deadline for    receipt of applications is June 11, 2007).

 

 

10.   STUDENT/COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES CONT’D:

 

10.1*   Consider approving the following student trips:

 

E.   Approximately 10 Stevens Elementary School students, accompanied by their principal, to ride through Williamsport and have lunch at Wendy’s during June 2007 as a reward for their exceptional performance in the AR program.

 

The students will be transported by limousine. The Stevens PTA will pay all costs.

 

11.  BIDS/CONTRACTS CONT’D:

 

11.6   Consider authorizing stage two of the agreement with Larson Design to provide design and   specifications for improvements to the Cochran Elementary School Park at a cost of   $2,400. This is a continuation of the preparation for the installation of a baseball field,   walking trail and additional improvements to the Park. The Cochran PTO is working on   securing funding for the project. The cost of the design work will be funded by Cochran’s  budget.
