8.   PERSONNEL REPORT CONT’D:

 

8.1  RESIGNATIONS

 

Consider accepting the following resignation(s), effective on the dates and for the purposes indicated:

 

C.   William L. Tubbs, full-time Head custodian at Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary School, for the purpose of retirement, effective July 20, 2007.

 

  RESOLVED: that the Board of School Directors of the Williamsport Area School District acknowledges with profound regret the retirement of William L. Tubbs from service in the Williamsport Area Schools and expresses its sincere appreciation for his 35 years of dedicated service to our school system as a custodian. It further expresses the hope that his years of retirement will be many and richly rewarding.

 

D.   Kathryn A. Girio, general food service worker at Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary School, for personal reasons, effective April 25, 2007.

 

8.2  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

 

  Consider approving the following leave(s) of absence:

   

 B.   Tina M. Fraley, part-time instructional support aide at Lycoming Valley Middle School, unpaid leave for educational purposes, effective May 4, 2007 through

   June 8, 2007.

 

8.3*  ELECTION OF STAFF  

 

  Consider the election of the following staff, for the purpose and on the date indicated:  

     

 E.   The following substitute teachers, subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the salary and/or daily rates as established by Board policy ($90 per day for first 45 days; $110 per day for days beyond the 45th day; up to a maximum of 180 days/year), and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked:

8.3*   ELECTION OF STAFF CONT’D:  

 

 F.   The following persons as Elementary Summer School Teachers, assignment to be       determined, for 3.5 hours per day, 5 days per week, plus one 30 minute building       meeting each week, beginning July 9 through August 3, 2007 at the rate of $27.03     per hour plus appropriate benefits, plus up to two professional development days at     $90 per day. All costs are budgeted under Sheridan Project Grant:

    Middle School Summer School Substitute Teacher

 G.   Nicole L. McKibben, 344 Arch St., Montoursville, as a paid intern in the Tax Office, effective May 14, 2007, for the duration of up to 480 hours, at the rate of $6.25 per hour (no benefits).

 

9.2   RELEASED TIME/TRAINING PROGRAMS

 

Consider authorizing the following Williamsport Area Support Personnel (WASP) member(s) to attend the PSEA Core School in Gettysburg, July 23 through July 27, 2007: Lynell R. Whitnack. Wages and benefits are to be reimbursed to the District by the Pennsylvania State Educators Association (PSEA) and Williamsport Area Support Personnel (WASP).

 

10.   STUDENT/COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES CONT’D:

 

10.1   Consider approving the following student trips cont’d:

 

Q.   Five (5) members of the Williamsport Area High School’s Brass Ensemble, accompanied by their teacher, to travel to the Community Arts Center during May 2007 to attend a music clinic.

 

    The teachers will be driven by their teacher. There will be no cost to the District.

 

R.   Ninety (90) fourth and fifth grade students from Sheridan Elementary School, accompanied by their teachers, aides, and other adult chaperones, to travel to Bruce Henry Park and Miller’s Run Stream during May 2007 for hands on science activities.

 

    There will be no cost to the District. The students will walk to and from the park.

 

 

 

 

 

10.1   Consider approving the following student trips cont’d:

 

S.   Approximately 100 fifth grade students from Jackson Elementary School, accompanied by their principals and parent volunteers, to travel to Knoebel’s Grove on a Saturday during May 2007.

 

Transportation will be provided by contract carrier. All costs will be paid by the Jackson PTO.

 

T.   Thirty-five (35) gifted education students from Curtin Middle School, accompanied by their teacher and parent chaperones, to travel to Harrisburg during May 2007 to visit the Whitaker Center and the Civil War Museum.

 

    District transportation is not requested.
