8.2  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

 

  Consider approving the following leave(s) of absence:

 

 C.   Heather L. Plocinski, full-time elementary (4th grade) teacher at Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary School, for an unpaid leave on an intermittent basis (as needed), effective January 4, 2007.

8.3*  ELECTION OF STAFF  

 

  Consider the election of the following staff, for the purpose and on the date indicated:  

 

 E.   The following persons as non-certificated substitute teacher with receipt of an emergency permit, subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the salary and/or rates as established by Board policy ($90 per day for the first 45 days; $110 per day for days beyond the 45th day; up to a maximum of 180 days/year) and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked during the 2006-2007 school year:

10.   STUDENT/COMMUNITY ACTITIVIES CONT’D:

 

10.1*   Consider approving the following student trips:

 

R.   Fifty-two (52) fifth grade students from Round Hills Elementary, accompanied by their teachers, to travel to the Williamsport Area High School during February 2007 to visit the planetarium.

 

    District transportation is requested (10-1100-519-000-10-325-000-014-0000).

 

S.   Seventy (70) fifth grade students from Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary, accompanied by their teachers, to travel to the Williamsport Area High School during February 2007 to visit the planetarium.

 

    District transportation is requested (10-1100-519-000-10-275-000-043-0000).

 

T.   Fifty (50) fifth grade students from Stevens Elementary, accompanied by their teachers, to travel to the Williamsport Area High School during February 2007 to visit the planetarium.

 

    District transportation is requested (10-1100-519-000-10-375-000-014-0000).

 

U.   Fifty (50) fifth grade students from Sheridan Elementary, accompanied by their teachers, to travel to the Williamsport Area High School during February 2007 to visit the planetarium.

 

    District transportation is requested (10-1100-519-000-10-350-000-014-0000).

 

10.1*   Consider approving the following student trips cont’d:

 

V.   Forty-eight (48) performing music students from Curtin Middle School, accompanied by their teachers, to travel to the Community Arts Center during February 2007 to attend a performance. Students eligible to participate must be in compliance with the school’s field trip disciplinary requirements.

 

District transportation is requested. The cost of transportation and admission will be paid by the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra.

 

W.   Nine (9) Williamsport Area High School orchestra students, accepted by competitive audition, to participate in the PMEA Regional Orchestra Festival to be held at Franklin & Marshall College four dates during February and March 2007.

Cost to the District would be $520 (10-3214-813-000-30-850-121-023-0000) for student registration fees and $450 (10-3214-581-000-30-850-121-023-0000) for teacher expenses. We will share transportation with Lewisburg Area School District and will use a contract carrier. Our half of the transportation costs will be approximately $325 (10-3214-519-000-30-850-121-023-0000). Jeffrey Tedford, WAHS orchestra director will accompany the students. One substitute will be needed for two days at a cost not to exceed $220.00
