7.   CURRICULUM REPORT CONT’D:

 

7.7   Consider approving a letter of agreement with Williamsport Child Guidance, Inc (WCG)  to   work with the extended day program which will serve Stevens Elementary School’s   students from January 3, 2007 until the close of the program year. WCG will provide:   trained staff to supervise participating elementary students in groups of no more than 10   students until 6:00 pm; school facilities; contact with eligible students; record of student   attendance; liability insurance. The WASD will provide: school facilities; contact with   eligible students. WASD will apply for and secure grant funds entitled the Sheridan   Project to fund the extended day services and provide transportation. WASD will   compensate WCG based on actual student usage. This program had been supplied by the  YMCA through December.

 

8.  PERSONNEL REPORT

 

8.1  RESIGNATIONS

 

Consider accepting the following terminations/ resignations, effective on the dates and for the purposes indicated:

 

C.   Jacqueline G. Thomas, Assistant Superintendent for the District, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 29, 2007.

 

  RESOLVED: that the Board of School Directors of the Williamsport Area School District acknowledges with profound regret the retirement of Jacqueline G. Thomas from service in the Williamsport Area Schools and expresses its sincere appreciation for her over 20 years of dedicated service to our school system as Assistant Superintendent and administrator. It further expresses the hope that her years of retirement will be many and richly rewarding.

 

D.   Judith M. Gooderham, Director of Food Services for the District, for the purpose of retirement, effective June 22, 2007.

 

  RESOLVED: that the Board of School Directors of the Williamsport Area School District acknowledges with profound regret the retirement of Judith M. Gooderham from service in the Williamsport Area Schools and expresses its sincere appreciation for her 19 years of dedicated service to our school system as an administrator. It further expresses the hope that her years of retirement will be many and richly rewarding.

 

E.   Angelic N. Parrett, as Network Coordinator/Web Developer, for other employment, effective January 19, 2007.

 

 

8.1  RESIGNATIONS CONT’D:

 

F.   Catherine E. Daugherty, part-time custodian for the District, due to abandonment, effective January 2, 2007.

 

8.2  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

 

  Consider approving the following leaves of absence:

         

 C.   Barbara A. Benshaw, full-time Administrative Support II for the Curriculum Department at the District Service Center, unpaid leave for personal reasons, effective January 3, 2007, through March 27, 2007, possibly to return sooner.

 

8.3*  ELECTION OF STAFF  

 

  Consider the election of the following staff, for the purpose and on the date indicated:  

     

 G.   The following substitute teachers, subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the salary and/or daily rates as established by Board policy ($90 per day for 1st 45 days; $110 per day for days beyond the 45 th day; up to a maximum of 180 days/year), and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked:

 I.   Ilene K. Butler, 96 Aderhold Lane, Williamsport, as a substitute custodian, with a base wage rate of $7.50 per hour, for the actual number of hours worked, effective December 26, 2006.

 

 J.   Susan S. Bennett, 2620 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, as part-time (up to 185 days, prorated; up to 5 hours per day) instructional support aide at Roosevelt Middle School, effective January 3, 2007, with a base wage rate of $11.94 per hour, FICA, Worker’s Compensation, Retirement (if eligible), and sick leave (per the Agreement between the Board and the Williamsport Area Education Support Professionals) are the only fringe benefits.

 

 K.   Abby L. Sidleck, 522 Wyoming St., as part-time (up to 185 days, prorated; up to 5 hours per day) instructional support aide at Roosevelt Middle School, effective January 3, 2007, with a base wage rate of $10.94 per hour, FICA, Worker’s Compensation, Retirement (if eligible), and sick leave (per the Agreement between the Board and the Williamsport Area Education Support Professionals) are the only fringe benefits.

 

 

 

 

8.3*   ELECTION OF STAFF CONT’D:

 

 L.   Erin M. Hamilton, 129 N. Loyalsock Ave., Montoursville, as a temporary professional employee, effective January 2, 2007, to teach Elementary (1 st Grade) at Cochran Elementary School, at a salary rate of Step 1, bachelor's, $38,750, prorated. Ms. Hamilton holds a bachelor's degree from Lock Haven University and is certified in Elementary K-6 (replacing Julia Edler, transferred to Kindergarten to replace Nancy Hiscock, resigned).

 

8.4*  POSITION CHANGES

 

  Consider approving the following position changes:

 

 B.   Vaughn L. Reish, P.O. Box 325, Avis, from a general maintenance worker to a full-time Head Custodian Class IV at Round Hills Elementary School, 250 days, 8 hours per day, with a base wage rate of $32,880, prorated ($16.44 per hour), effective December 11, 2006 (replacing David Follmer, resigned).

 

 C.   Joseph P. Walizer, P.O. Box 103, Cogan Station, from a regular school bus driver to a general full-time custodian at Lycoming Valley Middle School, 250 days, 8 hours per day, with a base wage rate of $30,980, prorated ($15.49 per hour), effective January 2, 2007 (replacing Dean Fink).

 

 D.   Amie L. Palmer, 304 S. Pine Run Rd., Linden, from a general food service worker at the high school, to a part-time Administrative Support I (prorated up to 185 days, up to 5 hours per day) at the high school, with a base wage rate of $10.84 per hour, effective January 2, 2007 (new position funded by College & ; Career Counseling Grant; funding is available through the 2006-2007 school year).

 

 E.   Donna O. Maule, 367 Lincoln Avenue, Williamsport, from a substitute school bus     driver to a regular part-time school bus driver (bargaining unit employee), at the       salary rate of $12.52 per hour, effective December 11, 2006 (replacing Wayne      Hepler, resigned).

 

 F.   Timothy L. Helminiak, 17 Round Hill Road, Williamsport, from a substitute school     bus driver to a regular part-time school bus driver (bargaining unit employee), at the     salary rate of $12.52 per hour, effective January 3, 2007 (replacing Aaron Johnson,    resigned).
