7.   CURRICULUM REPORT CONT’D:

 

7.2   Consider approving the 2006-07 School Improvement Plan for the Williamsport Area High School. This School Improvement Plan is required by NCLB.

 

8.   PERSONNEL REPORT CONT’D:

 

8.3  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

 

  Consider approving the following leaves of absence:

 

 D.   Patricia A. Miller, full-time Mathematics teacher at the high school, unpaid leave of absence, effective January 13, 2007, through February 9, 2007.

 

 E.   Robert L. Emerick, part-time custodian at Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary School,     unpaid leave for planned vacations, effective December 26-30, 2006, and July 2-7,    2007.

 

8.4*  ELECTION OF STAFF  

 

  Consider the election of the following staff, for the purpose and on the date indicated:  

 

 C.   The following substitute food service workers, at the salary rate of $6.25 per hour, for the actual number of hours worked, effective December 6, 2006:

 E.   The following persons as non-certificated substitute teacher with receipt of an emergency permit, subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the salary and/or rates as established by Board policy ($90 per day for 1 st 45 days; $110 per day for days beyond the 45th day; up to a maximum of 180 days/year) and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked during the 2006-2007 school year:

 F.   The following substitute administrative support/aides, subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the hourly rates as established by Board policy (Administrative Support - $7.50/hr., Instructional Aide - $6.75/hr.; up to a maximum of 180 days/year) and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked:

 G.   The following substitute food service truck drivers, at the salary rate of $7.50 per hour, for the actual number of hours worked, effective December 6, 2006:

 H.   The following substitute school bus drivers (non-bargaining unit personnel), with a base wage rate of $11.00 per hour, effective December 6, 2006:

 

   Timothy L. Helminiak    17 Round Hill Rd., Williamsport

 

 I.   Tina Jedrziewski, 2776 Bottle Run Rd., Williamsport, as part-time (up to 185 days, prorated; up to 5 hours per day) instructional support aide at Round Hills Elementary School, effective December 6, 2006, with a base wage rate of $10.94 per hour, FICA, Worker’s Compensation, Retirement (if eligible), and sick leave (per the Agreement between the Board and the Williamsport Area Education Support Professionals) are the only fringe benefits (replacing Peggy Welch, who requested to return to Food Service).

 

8.5  CONTRACTED SERVICES

 

 A.   Consider approving a contract with BLaST I.U. 17, R.R. 2, Box 3364, Canton,       to provide speech and vision services to eligible students for four days each week       for the remainder of the 2006-2007 school year at the rates of $439 per day (for  

    speech   support) and $446 per day (for vision support) [funded from General Fund].

 

10.   STUDENT/COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES CONT’D:

 

10.1   Consider approving the following student trips:

 

G.   Seventy-five (75) third grade students from Cochran Elementary School, accompanied by their teachers and two aides, to travel to the Williamsport Area High School during December 2006 to attend a play. Students must be in compliance with the school’s field trip disciplinary requirements in order to participate.

 

District transportation is requested and will be paid from the school’s Wal-Mart grant. One substitute will be required for half the day at a cost not to exceed $55.00.

 

10.2   Consider approving the following request for facility use:

 

 A.   Balls Mills Soccer Club to use the gymnasium at Cochran on Mondays beginning       December 4, 2006 through March 26, 2007, from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm to hold       indoor soccer training. Balls Mills Soccer is requesting relief of the occupancy fee     estimated at $350.00. Certificate of Insurance on file.
