AGENDA ADDENDUM

7.   CURRICULUM REPORT CONT’D:

 

7.6   Consider approving Cathy Buck, learning support teacher, to provide tutoring services for 3-5 hours per week beyond the school day for a high school special education student. Ms. Buck will be paid out of ACCESS funds and will receive an hourly rate of $26.22. Services will be for the 2006-07 school year. String number is 10-1200-131-891-30-850-000-004-0007.

 

7.7   Consider approving a letter of agreement with the Community Alliance for Progressive Positive Action, Inc. (CAPPA) to work together to stage the 2006-07 Performing Artists Showcase. The agreement includes: access to WASD students to promote the Showcase; WASD sites for CAPPA to audition, rehearse and present the Showcase; and WASD will apply for and provide up to $30,000 from grant funding sources to support the Showcase. CAPPA will provide liability insurance; personnel; promotion and presentation of the Showcase.

 

7.8   Consider approving a letter of agreement with the Williamsport YMCA to provide an extended day program that will serve Round Hills, Sheridan, Stevens and Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary Schools’ students during the 2006-07 school year. The YMCA will provide: trained staff to supervise participating elementary students in groups of no more than 10 students until 6:00 pm; record of student attendance; liability insurance; YMCA facility. The WASD will provide: school facilities; contact with eligible students. WASD will apply for and secure grant funds entitled the Sheridan Project to fund the extended day services and provide transportation. WASD will reimburse the YMCA on a sliding scale based on usage of the individual facilities, not to exceed $18 per hour for four-year degreed site supervisors, and $12 per hour for recreational/care personnel.

 

7.9   Consider approving a letter of agreement with Williamsport Child Guidance, Inc (WCG) to work with the extended day program which will serve Jackson and Cochran Elementary Schools’ students. WCG will provide: trained staff to supervise participating elementary students in groups of no more than 12 students until 6:00 pm; contact with eligible students; record of student attendance; liability insurance. The WASD will provide: school facilities; contact with eligible students. WASD will apply for and secure grant funds entitled the Sheridan Project to fund the extended day services and provide transportation. WASD will compensate WCG based on actual student usage.

 

8.   PERSONNEL REPORT CONT’D:

 

8.1  RESIGNATIONS

   

Consider accepting the following resignations, effective on the dates and for the purposes indicated:

 

A.   Aaron T. Johnson, regular part-time school bus driver for the District, for personal reasons, effective September 5, 2006.

 

8.2  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

 

  Consider approving the following leaves of absence:

 

 G.   Robyn G. Weaver, part-time instructional support aide at Stevens Elementary School, unpaid leave for personal reasons, effective October 19, 20, and 23, 2006.

   

8.3*  ELECTION OF STAFF  

 

  Consider the election of the following staff, for the purpose and on the date indicated:

   

 J.   The following substitute teachers, subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the salary and/or daily rates as established by Board policy, and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked:

 

   Jennifer B. Finnegan    137 N. Third St., Hughesville

       

 L.   The following substitute school bus drivers (non-bargaining unit personnel), with a base wage rate of $11.00 per hour, effective September 5, 2006:

 

   Aaron T. Johnson    903 Sheridan St., Williamsport

 

 M.   Angela B. Corey, 331 Eldred St. Apt. 1, Williamsport, to maintain, update, and process records, applications, and reports related to the Adult Education/Adult Literacy Grants, for approximately 20 hours per month, effective on or about September 11, 2006, through June, 2007, at wage rate per collective bargaining agreement (funded through Adult Education/Adult Literacy Grants).

 

 N.   Laura M. Barnsley, 217 E. Water St. #301, Lock Haven, as a full-time (185 days, 7 hours per day) Instructional Support Aide for the Water Safety Program at the Williamsport Area High School, effective September 21, 2006, with a base wage rate of $16,239, prorated ($12.54 per hour), plus applicable benefits as provided under the collective bargaining agreement between WASD and WASP (replacing Brian Stugart, resigned).

 

8.4*  POSITION CHANGES

 

 E.   Thomas E. Fink, 251 Anna Rd., Williamsport, from a part-time instructional support aide at the high school to a full-time Vehicle Mechanic (second shift) at the Bus Garage, at the base salary rate of $34,180, prorated ($17.09 per hour) or contract rate, effective September 18, 2006 (replacing William Bouse, transferred to first shift replacing Roy Puller, transferred to administrative position).

 

 F.   Nancy L. Feerrar, 89 Shady Lane, Jersey Shore , from a part-time instructional support aide at the high school to a full-time instructional support aide (185 day, 7 hours per day) at Curtin Middle School, with a base wage rate of $18,700, prorated ($14.44 per hour), effective September 11, 2006.

 

8.4*  POSITION CHANGES CONT’D:

 

 G.   Mary Jo Walker, 1800 David Ave., Williamsport, from a part-time general food service worker at Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary School to a part-time instructional support aide (185 day, 5 hours per day) at Jackson Elementary School, with a base wage rate of $10.94 per hour, effective August 28, 2006.

 

8.5  OTHER

 

 A.   Consider approving additional work hours for Kathy M. Shirey (Administrative       Support, part-time - Food Service). Due to federal regulations, student meal       applications must be processed in a timely manner. As of September 15, 2006, Ms.     Shirey has worked 27¼ additional hours at her current contract rate for the 2006-      2007 school year.

 

 B.   Consider approving Kathy M. Shirey to scan 4-Sight Tests for the elementary/middle     schools three times (fall, winter and spring) throughout the 2006-2007 school year at     her current contract rate plus appropriate benefits. All funds are budgeted under EAP.


10.   STUDENT/COMMUNITY ACTIVITES CONT’D:

 

10.1   Consider approving the following student trips cont’d:

 

I.   Approximately 125 Roosevelt Middle School students, accompanied by staff members to travel to the Williamsport Area High School during September 2006 for a tailgate party before the home football game. Students eligible to participate must be in compliance with the school’s field trip disciplinary requirements in order to participate.

 

    District transportation is requested. All costs will be paid by the Roosevelt PTO.

 

J.   Fifteen (15) members of the Williamsport Area High School’s “Without a Cue” performance group, accompanied by two staff members, to travel to Cochran and Sheridan Elementary Schools on three dates during September 2006 to perform skits regarding nutrition for the students. Students eligible to participate will not have been suspended from school more than five days; will have no bus disciplinary record; will be passing all major courses; and are not, in the judgment of their house principal, experiencing attendance difficulties.

 

District transportation is requested and will be paid through the Fruit & Vegetable Grant.
