 C.   Tax Study Commission Appointment Resolution Cont’d:

 

Consider approving the following resolution:

 

RESOLVED, by the Board of School Directors of the Williamsport Area School District, that the following individuals are appointed to the 2006 Tax Study Commission:

 

Karlyle F. Facey       Ada M. Godlewski

Pamela J. Markle      Vance M. Miller

Ann Smith Phillips       Kenneth L. Snyder

Philip Sprunger      Gary Weber, Esq.

Glenn R. Williams

 

The appointment shall be effective immediately and the Commission shall make a final recommendation to the School Board on or before December 13, 2006.

 

4.4  Construction Projects

 

A.   Discussion about additional scope of work for the Lycoming Valley Middle School Project.

 

8.   PERSONNEL REPORT CONT’D:

 

8.1   MEMORIAL RESOLUTION – Thomas A. Kelchner

 

Consider adopting the following memorial resolution:

 

WHEREAS, the Board of School Directors of the Williamsport Area School District observes with profound sorrow the untimely passing from this life of Tom Kelchner who for over twenty-two years was a dedicated teacher and administrator for the School District,

 

WHEREAS, the Board recognizes with respect and appreciation the devotion and time he gave to his colleagues, students, parents, and family, and the consideration he always showed them,

 

WHEREAS, the tragic loss of Tom will be deeply felt by many for a long time; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED: that the Board of School Directors of the Williamsport Area School District tenders its deepest sympathy to his family in their bereavement, with the comforting knowledge that his life was well spent for the good of the students and teachers he guided and for his fellow man

 

FURTHER RESOLVED: that the members of this School Board direct that this resolution be spread upon the official minutes of this body and that a copy be presented to Mr. Kelchner's family.

 

8.2  RESIGNATIONS

     

Consider accepting the following resignations, effective on the dates and for the purposes indicated:

 

L.   Harry S. Baird, instructional support aide at Lycoming Valley Middle School, for other employment, effective August 30, 2006.

 

8.4*  ELECTION OF STAFF  

 

  Consider the election of the following staff, for the purpose and on the date indicated:

     

H.   The following substitute teachers, subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the salary and/or daily rates as established by Board policy, and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked:

 

   Rachel L. Clausen    P.O. Box 5039, Jersey Shore

   Erica L. Weaver    2261 East Valley Road, Loganton

 

 I.   The following substitute administrative support/aides, subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the hourly rates as established by Board policy, and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked (pending completion of all appropriate paperwork*):

 

   Theresa Fatherly*    28 Roseville Rd., Williamsport

   Ralph C. Jones*    660 Spruce St., Williamsport    

 

 J.   Stephanie S. Weikel, 411 South Pine Run Rd., Linden, as a professional employee, effective date to be determined, as a Speech and Language Therapist for the District, at a salary rate of master's maximum (+18 credits), $67,100, prorated. Mrs. Weikel holds a bachelor's and master's degree from Bloomsburg University and is certified in Speech Correction (replacing vacant position that was filled during 2005-06 by long-term substitute Aaron Naginey). Mrs. Weikel is a prior employee of the Williamsport Area School District.

 

8.5*  POSITION CHANGES

 

  Consider approving the following position changes:

 

 B.   Christine A. MacKenzie, 1558 Overbrook Rd., Williamsport, increase from a part-time (5/7) to full-time professional employee to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) at the high school, effective with the start of the 2006-2007 school year, master’s maximum, $66,500, due to an increase in the number of students requiring ESL services.

 C.   Andrea E. Logan, 1120 Locust St., Montoursville, from a part-time (185 days, prorated; up to 5 hours per day) Health Room Technician to a full-time Health Room Technician at Jackson Elementary School and the high school, at the rate of $16,757, prorated ($12.94 per hour), effective September 6, 2006 (replacing Patrice Walters, resigned).

 

8.7  OTHER

 

 C.   Consider approving Paula S. McGonigal, P.O. Box 512, McElhattan, for up to 10       days at her per diem rate for work completed during the summer for her position as     full-time Extended Day Program Coordinator (funded through EAP/Sheridan Project    Grants).

 

10.   STUDENT/COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES CONT’D:

 

10.1*   Consider approving the following request for facility use cont’d:

 

C.   Williamsport Bureau of Fire to use the auditoriums at Curtin Middle School on September 25, 2006 and Roosevelt Middle School on September 27, 2006, from

6:30 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. to hold a public information meeting. The Bureau of Fire

is requesting relief of the occupancy fee estimated at $80.00. Certificate of Insurance

to be received.
