7.   CURRICULUM REPORT CONT’D:

 

7.3   Consider approving the 2006 Spring Athletic Schedules (copies available).

 

7.4   Consider approving accepting and spending a $2,500 HIV/STD Pregnancy Prevention   Education mini-grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to WAHS  (application   was approved by the Board on the January 3, 2006 agenda item 8.3).

 

7.5   Consider approving payment to Wayne Mahonski, golf pro at White Deer, for an in-service   presentation to the K-12 Physical Education staff, February 20, 2006. Sixteen people at   $20.00. Total: $320.00 budgeted in Physical Education professional development account  # 10-2271-329-000-00-850-140-025-0000

 

8.   PERSONNEL REPORT CONT’D:

 

8.1  RESIGNATIONS

 

  Consider accepting the following resignations, effective on the dates and for the purposes  indicated:

 

GG.   Patricia A. Lowery, Superintendent, for the purpose of retirement, effective

 September 29, 2006.

 

 RESOLVED:   that the Board of School Directors of the Williamsport Area School District acknowledges with profound regret the retirement of Patricia A. Lowery from service in the Williamsport Area School District and expresses its sincere appreciation for her 6 ¼ years of dedicated service to our school system as Superintendent. It further expresses the hope that her years of retirement will be many and richly rewarding.

 

8.2  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

 

  Consider approving the following leaves of absence:

 

 M.   Louis H. Gatti, school bus driver for the District, unpaid leave for personal reasons, effective for one day only on March 6, 2006.

 

 N.   Stephanie A. McKee, part-time school bus aide for the District, unpaid leave for personal reasons, effective February 10, 2006, and February 13, 2006.

 

 O.   Malinda E. Sherman, part-time school bus aide for the District, unpaid leave for personal reasons, effective for one day only on February 13, 2006.

 

 

8.2  LEAVES OF ABSENCE CONT’D:

 

 P.   Kimberly A. Starr, general food service worker at the high school, unpaid leave for     personal reasons, effective February 15, 2006, and February 17, 2006.

 

 Q.   Gifford H. Tebbs, Jr., part-time custodian for the District, unpaid leave for personal     reasons, effective February 27, 2006, through March 3, 2006.

 

8.3*  ELECTION OF STAFF

 

  Consider the election of the following staff, for the purpose and on   the date indicated:  

 

 C.   The following persons as non-certificated substitute teacher with receipt of an emergency permit, subject to assignment by the Superintendent of Schools, at the salary and/or rates as established by Board policy, and only for the actual number of hours assigned and worked during the 2005-2006 school year:

 

   David A. Dalton    137 E. Third St., Apt. 7, Williamsport

   Barbara E. Livingstone  1107 Elmira St., Williamsport

 

 E.   The following persons to the positions indicated for the 2005-2006 school year at the rates in accordance with the 2002-2007 Agreement by and between the Board of School Directors of the Williamsport Area School District and the Williamsport Education Association (pending completion of all appropriate paperwork*):

 

   CHORAL

 Williamsport Area High School

    Cherry, White and Blue    Thomas Shellenberger *  $ 519

             (replacing Anna L. Radspinner)  

       

 F.   The following persons as track event workers, effective February 22, 2006. These workers will be paid at a flat rate per event (as determined by the Athletic Director) as scheduled and approved by the Athletic Department. Payment for these services will be forwarded to payroll for processing (pending completion of all appropriate paperwork*):

 

   Michelle A. Koons    448 Sheridan St., Williamsport

   Tom Losch      1730 Almond St., Williamsport

 

 G.   Stacey L. Cherrington, 250 Pepper St., Muncy, as a teacher for the Extended Day       Program, effective for the 2005-2006 school year, to be paid at the rate of $25.43     per hour plus appropriate benefits, up to five (5) hours per week. All costs funded       through Education Assistance Program/Sheridan Project Funds.


 

 

10.   STUDENT/COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

 

10.1*   Consider approving the following student trips cont’d:

 

L.   Eight (8) Williamsport Area High School Key Club members, accompanied by their advisor, to travel to Hershey on three dates during March 2006 to attend the Annual Kiwanis Key Club Convention. Students eligible to participate will not have been suspended from school more than five days; will have no bus disciplinary record; will be passing all major courses; and are not, in the judgment of their house principal, experiencing attendance difficulties.

 

  A van will be rented to transport the students. The cost of approximately $1,000 will be paid as follows: $500 donation from Kiwanis; student fundraising; Key Club budget; and student fee.

 

M.   Correction to Item 10.1.K on regular agenda: These trips were submitted as taking place in February 2006. The corrected dates for the trip are two dates in April 2006.
