Consider approving IU 17 to provide professional development to the Alternative
Education staff in the Reading Apprenticeship Program throughout the spring of
2006. The cost of the training will be approximately $350 per day. The
training will consist of workshops as well as job embedded training, direct
support to the teachers as they implement the program in their classrooms. The
total cost is not to exceed $9,500 and all costs are covered by the
Alternative Education buildings PA School Improvement Grant.

CURRICULUM REPORT CONTD:

Consider approving adoption of "The Musicians Guide to Theory and
Analysis" by W. W. Norton (ISBN
0-393-97652-1), copyright 2004, for the WAHS AP Music Theory class. This text
was reviewed by the WAHS music department adoption committee in November 2005
based on recommendation by the Advanced Placement program. Support materials,
in addition to the text, include "Workbook for The Musicians Guide
to Theory and Analysis," "Anthology for The Musicians Guide to
Theory and Analysis" and "Recordings for The Musicians Guide to
Theory and Analysis." The approximate cost for each complete set is
$175.00. Planned purchase is for 20 complete sets. The approximate total of
$3,735 has been budgeted in the proposed 2006-07music budget account number
10-110-640-000-850-121-023-000, and sets will not be ordered until after the
FY07 music budget has been adopted by the Board.

the rate of $30.00 per hour for hours worked, effective February 22, 2006,
through June 9, 2006.

Consider approving Kevin C. Werner (art teacher at WAHS) to teach Introduction

Ceramics (20 hours, beginning 2/21/06) and Introduction to Jewelry Design &

Technical Program during the Spring, 2006, at the rate of $25.43 per hour (as

School, accompanied by their teachers, to travel to the Holiday Inn during May
2006 to participate in the Vocational Training Awards breakfast. The students
will also be treated to a trip aboard the Hiawatha. Students eligible to
participate will not have been suspended from school more than five days; will
have no bus disciplinary record; will be passing all major courses; and are
not, in the judgment of their house principal, experiencing attendance
difficulties.
Transportation and the Hiawatha will be provided by the City of Williamsport.
Breakfast costs will be charged to 10-1200-635-000-30-850-000-004-0000. Three
substitutes will be required for half the day.
B.
Twenty-five (25) Ninth Grade Academy students, accompanied by two teachers, to
travel to Penn College during February 2006 to attend a dining etiquette
seminar. Students eligible to participate will not have been suspended from
school more than five days; will have no bus disciplinary record; will be
passing all major courses; and are not, in the judgment of their house
principal, experiencing attendance difficulties.

performing groups GQ and Les Chanteuses to travel to Harrisburg during March
2006 to perform at the Music in Our Schools Month celebration.

courses; and are not, in the judgment of their house principal, experiencing

accompanied by their teachers and parent volunteers, to travel to the Scottish
Rite and Memorial Park during May 2006. Students eligible to participate will
note have been suspended or assigned to Saturday School within 30 days prior
to the trip.
District transportation is requested. All costs will be paid by the
Hepburn-Lycoming PTO.

Nine (9) Williamsport Area High School choral students, accepted by competitive
audition, to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association
Region IV Chorus Festival to be held at Tunkhannock Area High School on four
days during March 2006. Students eligible to participate will not have been

Board Policy #902, Public Participation in Board Meetings:
A.
There will be two public comment sections: one during the first two hours of
the meeting at a time to be determined by the presiding officer; and the other
at the end of the meeting. This gives the presiding officer some flexibility
to fit the first public comment section into the agenda at a convenient time.
B.
Persons submitting a formal request to speak during the first public comments
section should be present promptly at the beginning of the meeting in the event
that they are invited to speak prior to commencement of the scheduled business
that is outlined in the agenda. Persons who have submitted a written request
will be given an opportunity to make a presentation about an issue that is on
the agenda when the issue is scheduled for discussion or about an issue that is
not on the agenda during the first two hours of the Board meeting, at a time
to be determined by the presiding officer.
C.
Each public comment section will be limited to a maximum of 20 minutes. Each
speaker will be limited to a maximum of five minutes.
D.
Those wishing to speak during the first public comments section must submit a
formal request in writing to the business administrator no later that 9:00 a.m.
