8.   CURRICULUM REPORT CONT’D:

 

8.11   Consider approving request to establish a WAHS Dance Company as a Student Activity. The   program will showcase performing dance talents, choreography, set, and interdisciplinary   opportunities. The activity will be run by selected student officers as a performing dance   company with guidance from the advisor, Heather Mitch. Fund raising activities will support   the needs of the group. Some financial assistance will be provided from the general fund to   acquire a dance floor, mirrors and sound system which will also be used by the WAHS  physical education dance classes during the day.

 

8.12   Consider approving bus transportation on October 10, 2005 for approximately 30 WAHS   teachers to travel from WAHS to Jersey Shore High School to attend the County-Wide   Inservice about High School Reform. Approximate cost of $200 is budgeted in the  professional development budget account number 10-2271-513-000-00-000-000-017-0000.

 

8.13   Consider approving renewal of a five-year Affiliation Agreement with Mansfield University  to accept placement of student teachers in WASD schools.

 

9.   PERSONNEL REPORT CONT’D:

 

9.3*  ELECTION OF STAFF  

 

  Consider the election of the following staff, for the purpose and on the date indicated:  

     

 H.   Aaron C. Naginey, 50 Watson Lane, Northumberland 17857, as a long-term substitute     Speech Therapist for the 2005-2006 school term, effective October 10, 2005, at a       salary rate of Step 1, Master’s + 27, $42,200 (+ $200 stipend), prorated, plus benefits,     pending successful application for emergency permit from the Pennsylvania Depart-     ment of Education. The District, Association and Mr. Naginey have agreed to a       Memorandum of Understanding outlining Mr. Naginey’s employment status pending     successful completion of the certification process with the Pennsylvania Department     of Education and all appropriate paperwork. Mr. Naginey holds a bachelor’ s degree in     Speech & Language Pathology Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania     and a master’s degree in Speech Pathology from Loyola College in Maryland      (replacing Karen Harris, retired).

 

9.6  OTHER

 

 A.   Authorize the Superintendent to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)       between the District and the Williamsport Education Association (WEA) regarding     the employment status of a long-term substitute teacher pending certification process    during the 2005-2006 school year.

 

 

11.   STUDENT/COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES CONT’D:

 

11.1*   Consider approving the following student trips cont’d:

 

M.   Revision to 11.1.F: Change in location only from Red Lobster to the James V. Brown   Library. The students will still visit Styer’s Farm Market and Memorial Park.

 

N.   An as yet undetermined number of students from Roosevelt Middle School, accompanied by   their principals, staff members, and families, to travel to Penn College during October 2005 to   participate in the Middle School Career Fair. Students eligible to participate must be in   compliance with the school’s field trip disciplinary requirements.

 

  District transportation is requested (10-3300-519-410-20-650-000-018-0006).
