5.2   SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT – Patricia A. Lowery, Ph.D.

 

D.   Consider authorizing Dr. Patricia Lowery to serve as a member of the advisory committee formed under the provisions of House Resolution 3 of 2005 to oversee development and implementation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives’ Education Innovation Awards Program. Lowery’s membership was requested by the Speaker of the House of Representatives John M. Perzel.

 

9.   PERSONNEL REPORT CONT’D:

 

9.1  RESIGNATIONS

 

Consider accepting the following resignations, effective on the dates and for the purposes indicated:

 

C.   Rita M. Eck, general food service worker at Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary School, for other employment, effective April 29, 2005.

 

9.2  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

 

  Consider approving the following leaves of absence:

 

 L.   Jacquelyn C. Wismer, full-time Title I Reading Specialist at Stevens Elementary School, for an unpaid medical leave, effective April 22, 2005, through May 20, 2005. Mrs. Wismer is not eligible for leave under the Family Medical Leave Act at this time.

 

 M.   Helen M. Brown, general food service worker at the high school cafeteria, unpaid       leave for a planned vacation, effective June 6, 2005, through June 8, 2005.

 

 N.   Sherry L. Menne, general food service worker at Cochran Elementary School,       unpaid leave for personal reasons, effective April 4, 2005, through June 10, 2005.

 

 O.   Lois A. Welch, general food service worker at Roosevelt Middle School, unpaid leave for personal reasons, effective for one day only on April 25, 2005.

 

 

 

 

 

 

9.3*  ELECTION OF STAFF  

 

  Consider the election of the following staff, for the purpose and on the date indicated:  

 

 D.   The following persons to the positions indicated at the respective schools for the 2004-2005 school year, at the stipends established in accordance with the 2002-2007 Agreement by and between the Board of School Directors of the Williamsport Area School District and the Williamsport Education Association:

    Middle School Student Council Advisors

9.5  OTHER

 

 A.   Authorize the Superintendent to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)       with the Williamsport Education Association (WEA) waiving the requirement to

    have 25 years service with the Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS)

    to be eligible for health care coverage during retirement under the terms of the

    collective bargaining agreement (20 years service in the retirement system is still       required). Eligible WEA member must submit a written notice before June 1, 2005.

 

11.   STUDENT/COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

 

11.1*   Consider approving the following student trips cont’d:

 

CC.   Nineteen (19) learning support students from Roosevelt Middle School, accompanied by their teachers and other adult chaperones, to travel to the Lycoming County Historical Museum and the Little League Museum during April 2005. Students eligible to participate must be in compliance with the school’s field trip disciplinary requirements in order to participate.

 

    District transportation is requested. All costs will be paid by the Roosevelt PTO.
