Attention all WAHS Seniors and Senior Parents!
As you are already aware, those Seniors who have not yet reached proficiency on the three test subject areas of the PSSA’s (Mathematics, Reading and Writing) were earlier sent an announcement that the District Local Assessments would take place May 1,2 and 3, 2006, here at the high school. The opportunities to demonstrate Proficiency in the three subject areas were offered by the Commonwealth during your child’s Junior year, and again at the beginning of the Senior year.
Because of scheduling problems that have arisen during those three days, the District Local Assessments will not be given here at the high school until Monday May 15 (Mathematics); Tuesday, May 16 (Reading) and Wednesday May 17 (Writing). The tests will be given in the same order and at the same time that your original appointment indicated. We have simply moved the test window back two weeks to accommodate other changes in the school schedule unrelated to the testing program.
Results of the District Local Assessments will be available from your Senior’s guidance counselors within a week following these tests. According to district policy, any Senior still not proficient following these local assessments must attend and pass a prescribed remediation week in the areas of their continued deficiency immediately following the close of school, beginning Monday, June 12, in order to be eligible to receive a WAHS diploma.
