The Williamsport Area School District’s Music Department will present its Thirty Second Annual All-District Band Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 ( ~NEW DATE~) in the Williamsport Area High School Auditorium. The program is free to the public; and the doors open at 6:30 PM.
The event is designed as a brief snapshot of the District’s comprehensive and award winning band program. The concert is free to the public and part of the celebration of Music In Our Schools Month; which features the 2005 theme “Music, the Heart of Education!”
Featured performances will include On Wings of Eagles, Rio Bravo and Music! Music! Music! by the Elementary Honor Band. The Lycoming Valley Middle School Band will perform You Raise Me Up and Kachina: Chant & Spirit Dance. Two English Dances and Gates of Orion will showcase the talents of the Roosevelt Middle School Band. The Curtin Middle School Band will perform Declaration and Dance followed by Ancient Moon.
The Williamsport Area High School is represented by the Freshman Band performing A Day at the Circus. West Side Story and Fortress Variants will showcase the combined Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Featured works by select ensembles will include Rondo Barock by the WAHS Percussion Ensemble, Panic Button by Jazz Ensemble II, Midnight in Madagascar by the Indoor Percussion Ensemble, and The Chicken by the WAHS Jazz Ensemble I.
The program will conclude with the combined bands performing Irving Berlin’s God Bless America, conducted by Richard S. Coulter, WASD Music Education Department Chairman.
