New Plan to be Revealed at Tuesday Night’s Board Meeting
Williamsport, PA-Donna Cooper, Policy Director for Governor Ed Rendell, will unveil the governor’s new initiative at the WASD Board Meeting on Tuesday, May 20 at 8:00pm in the Board Room at the District Service Center in Williamsport, PA. Cooper will discuss the governor's Plan for a New Pennsylvania, which would lower property taxes, improve public schools and create jobs statewide. In Lycoming County, the Plan for a New Pennsylvania would give county homeowners $14.1 million in property tax relief. It would also provide county schools with $15.6 million in new state funding for programs that have been proven to improve student achievement, including full-day kindergarten, smaller class sizes, pre-school programs and tutoring for struggling students. Cooper will explain how the Plan would affect homeowners and students in Williamsport Area School District.
