A Night of Percussion and Jazz
The students of the Williamsport Area High School Percussion and Jazz Ensembles would like to invite you to our annual Night of Percussion and Jazz concert being held at the Williamsport Area High School, Monday, April 28, 2003, at 7:30 PM.
Our concert features WAHS students in grades 9-12 that are members of the Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble. The Percussion Ensemble, directed by Don Fisher, will be performing many different styles and types of pieces from Afro-Caribbean Samba to Taiko Drumming from Japan to High Voltage, a piece performed under blacklights based on the Broadway hit, BLAST! The Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dale Orris, will be performing Jazz Standards and contemporary arrangements.
The Percussion and Jazz Ensembles are both successful performing groups. The percussion ensemble has been a featured group in the Percussive Arts Society's PA Day of Percussion and has received "Superior" ratings in PMEA adjudication festivals. The Jazz ensemble was ranked first place in last year's Music In the Parks competition in Hershey, PA.
As you know, our school districtıs music program has been named one of the Top 100 School Districts in the United States for Music Education. We are thankful for the support of our Board of School Directors, Superintendent, Administration, and our community.
