FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: February 21, 2002
On February 27th, Benjamin Franklin is coming to Sheridan school. Dressed as Franklin, commonwealth speaker William Pencak will be electrifying students and members of the community with his presentation, "Benjamin Franklin in Disguise". The presentation is supported by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. During his lifetime, Benjamin Franklin pretended to be all sorts of people- Poor Richard and Silence Dogood are only the most famous. Dr. Pencak will be sharing some of Franklin's stories and explaining that he adopted these disguises to show that all sorts of people-poor men, woman and black people-had good ideas and should be treated with respect. Ben Franklin's visit also sets the scene for Sheridan's Learning Fair on March 5th at 7:00pm. Sheridan students will be displaying projects about such diverse topics as science, art, history and cuisine.
