Food Service Workers Tally 37,404 Meals Served During School Shutdown

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (JUNE 4, 2020) — Members of the Williamsport Area School District food service department closed out the district’s free meal assistance program on Wednesday, June 3.

Since March 17, the district operated the program to provide free bagged meals, which included items for both breakfast and lunch, to students in need around the community.

The food service workers served a total of 37,404 meals since the program launched.

The district also received resources and additional support for the effort from the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, The GIANT Co. and Wegmans.
