Williamsport Area High School Fitness Center Committee The Williamsport Area School District's Fitness Center Committee has proposed the development and installation of a new fitness center at the Williamsport Area High School. The goal of this committee, made up of teachers, staff, coaches, administrators, board members, booster club members, business leaders and community leaders was to develop a fitness center proposal for all students at Williamsport Area High School, to develop a new training room for the student-athletes and to convert the old training room into a female coaches/officials' locker room. Accommodate the entire school for usage, including faculty and staff. Provide a location to facilitate use as a primary physical education station during the school day. Provide afternoon and evening usage for the athletic teams. Provide a location with exterior secure access to permit supervised activity beyond the school day. Provide a separate, but connected zone for: 1. Weight training to accommodate 30-40 concurrent users. 2. Cardiovascular area to accommodate 15-20 concurrent users. 3. Open exercise/functional area. Music Education Facilities The Foundation received an initial offering of $100,000 for planning, design and construction of additional music practice rooms for the Williamsport Area High School music programs. Expansion of the music rooms are necessary to accommodate the growing number of students involved in the WASD programs. |
